Forums - Nintendo - Wiimote Batteries

Originally I bought the nyko charge station. but after multiple times having the "fix" the smaller prong via directions for nyko customer service I realized it is just a pos.

Now I just changing out cheapo batteries until Nintendo puts out a better solution.

I use this

The 2600mAh last wicked long, and 10 batteries is enough to cycle out the batteries for 4 controllers. Plus, since it is a smart charger, each battery is charged to the max, compared to how most wall chargers work where the charge 2 batteries in a group. The group setup causes one battery to be overcharged, and the other undercharged, which can lead to problems.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I've never heard of that problem, mind elaborating?

After about 2 months one of my wiimotes would not charge at all. So I called Nyko to complain and get a new battery pack. I was told to look at the pack, it has two prongs, one smaller. Bend the smaller prong out and then pop it back in place. This effectively makes the pack arched more and thus have a better contact with the inserted port on the wii mote where it connects. I told him WTF. He said that this has been a common problem and that was the official solution.

I tried and it worked. For awhile. Then the other remote had the same issue and later both again. I said forget it. One of my friends who bought the same charger has had the same issues repeatedly. Don't get it.

I am waiting for a Nintendo version. It will be made better.

I don't know if anyone else bothered to look at the batteries Nintendo sends out with the console (I didn't bother until just now) but the batteries themselves are not rechargeable, it says, "Do not...recharge..." so that would be a good reason why they wouldn't charge up all the way. So just need to find some batteries that will work with the charger I got already and I can return the charger I just got and get my $30 back.

i bought a wiimote charger, but then the wiimotes malfunctioned for some reason after abt 2 months from using the charger. So i just buy rechargable batteries, i think is best option

Wow, that kind of sucks.  I've had mine for quite a while (that's me in the video I linked)  and haven't had any problems with it.

I don't know about the one you linked to but I have the Nyko Wiimote charger and it works great. Its only about $20 too.

I found some rechargeable batteries lying around the house to put into the charger and returned the charger I just bought. So everything got cleared up around my end, I am kind of suprised to find out that Nintendo doesn't have an official charger, it just makes to much sense money wise for them to do that.

I use the rayovac rechargeables....work like a charm for me.
