I swear Nintendo is filling patents just to troll us simple forum dwellers.

Well, sometimes they give me the impression of them filling patents that have scrapped concepts just to try to get Sony and MS on the wrong road XD

The problem with "virtual buttons" is how are you supposed to know what you're pressing if you're not looking down at the controller entirely?

There has to be physical buttons otherwise I don't see how functional this could be.

Er, i don't look down at the buttons. You know what your pressing without looking.

I think you're basically saying the same thing as Soundwave, his doubt was refered to the fact that without phisical buttons you don't get the feel of pressing the right button...

The diagrams are so bad :(

The patent doesn't describe a controller, but a generic game apparatus. This concept could also be related to an handheld.

I've been reading the neogaf thread and it's basically:

"mobile is killing portables, market future is in Nintendo's hands, but don't make a mobile device!"

Can people be more ******?

Very strange concept, though I'm sure if the final product was based on this it will be a lot more refined.

If this is the NX controller, it also shows they've been working on this for a while .... Nintendo signed the freeform LCD deal with Sharp 2 years ago.
