And the year as a whole, I'd rather it as a 7/10.

I finally quit looking for that "8th gen experience" and accepted that I'm probably not going to be blown away. Then I started having fun. Not a lot of games that I expect to be on my Greatest of All Times list but I had fun.

Life is Strange is probably the most emotionally invested I've ever been when it comes to a video game.

DriveClub had that 8th gen experience for me and KZ SF for the immersive real time sound reflections. Then it kinda stopped. Maybe Uncharted 4 can pick up the pace a bit or Horizon Zero dawn.

Kinda feel disappointed I bought MGS 5 day one as I feel less and less inclined to start playing it the more I hear about it. Would you say Until dawn is better than MGS 5?

I want to finish Fallout 4 now so I can start Life is strange :)

Until Dawn (and Life is Strange) is more movie than game but if that's your cup of tea, it is very engrossing.  I say give it a try.

I'll give it an 7/10 by the games I've played this year

MGS V The Phantom Pain was disappointing.
COD Black Ops 3 was an even bigger disappointment compared to the last two.
WWE 2K16 was better than I expected.
Batman Arkham Knight was good.

PC, PS4, XO, Wii U & 3DS owner.

So far it's great!! 8.5/10

MGSV 10/10
one of the best games I've ever played

7/10 for me. but the only day 1 games I've bought are: Splatoon, SMM and XCX. Recently bought games like Bloodbourne and TW3. And I'll add SC II: LOTV.

Most of the games I've bought are from previous year especially for my n3Ds XL.

I only play PS+ games.

That's been my biggest problem with this generation.  Every previous generation of consoles I always had that "Wow" moment within the first couple of years. Whether is was, Super Mario Bros. on the NES, Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis, MGS or FFVII on the PS1, just firing up my brand new PS2 and seeing the graphics on SSX, or the Co-op exeperience online with Gears of War on the Xbox 360, there was always something that made me say this is what the next generation of gaming is all about. This generation has been a rinse and repeat of the last generation. I know it is getting tougher to come up with innovative ideas for games and there is a diminishing return on how much better games can look graphically...but I have just been underwhelmed so far. The fact that so many people get excited about remasters and collections of last gen games only further reinforces my point. I'm still hoping for that "Wow" moment again, but I'm not holding my breath.

Only played 2 games that came out this year which are Bloodborne and Phantom Pain, both of which were fantastic.

I didn't buy as much as I usually do.

Met or exceeded expectations:

Life is Strange
Tomb Raider
Gears of War Ultimate
Until Dawn
Ori and the Blind Forest
Run Sackboy Run (aka Crack!)

Good but not great:

Batman Arkham Knight
Splatoon
WWE 2K16

Disappointing:

Metal Gear Solid V
The Order

Games I was interested in but haven't bought, yet:

Devil's Third
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Super Mario Maker (I no longer want this)
The Witcher 3 (I no longer want this)
Uncharted ND Collection
Halo 5

And yet, I had a lot of fun this year. Highlights include playing BC games on my Xbox One, streaming to PC/Laptop on Windows 10, FINALLY getting a PSTV, falling back in love with 3DS and Vita, Mario Kart 8 DLC

you are insane!

trust me on this, its a fantastic game!
