I finally quit looking for that "8th gen experience" and accepted that I'm probably not going to be blown away. Then I started having fun. Not a lot of games that I expect to be on my Greatest of All Times list but I had fun.

That's been my biggest problem with this generation.  Every previous generation of consoles I always had that "Wow" moment within the first couple of years. Whether is was, Super Mario Bros. on the NES, Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis, MGS or FFVII on the PS1, just firing up my brand new PS2 and seeing the graphics on SSX, or the Co-op exeperience online with Gears of War on the Xbox 360, there was always something that made me say this is what the next generation of gaming is all about. This generation has been a rinse and repeat of the last generation. I know it is getting tougher to come up with innovative ideas for games and there is a diminishing return on how much better games can look graphically...but I have just been underwhelmed so far. The fact that so many people get excited about remasters and collections of last gen games only further reinforces my point. I'm still hoping for that "Wow" moment again, but I'm not holding my breath.
