All retailers make money on games.

Costso (where I work) makes money off both games and consoles (even though they are known as the least expensive videogame retailer in America).

It doesn't sound like you're an expert in retail sales. You're failing to account for so many other factors it's like you're being purposefully obtuse or willfully ignorant. Or you're just having fun defending a joke position?


He's just looking off the Best Buy "estimated cost" screen that they have at his work on the computers. Most likely he lives REALLY far away from a distribution point and his store is in the minority.

That's the thing.  It's an estimated price margin for just that store only.

1: Stores like money.
2: Stores sell things for money.
3: Games are one of the things stores sell.

Kingoffail would like us to believe that somewhere between 2 and 3 is another point that explains how games don't make money and stores sell them anyway because....?

Enlighten us on this mystical point 2.5 that justifies this worldwide retail loss on all hardware and software please.

Yet... you get in customers every day talking about PSPs. So... i'd guess that you infact do work on the sales floor.  Or previously lied about that in a former post.

What dolla said, Imagine if you walk into a retail electronic store and they tell you they don't carry any products that they can't make a decent profit for? What would be your reaction as a consumer?

This is the real world of retail. I don't know why everyone's so reluctant to accept it. Would you rather pay huge mark-ups for games?

So were you promoted within this week?  Since you used present tense when talking about people coming in asking about PSP sales and were commenting about why PSP sales were currently selling high?

labor alone would swallow money made from games. 7.5 for someone scanning crap. 10 for car install 12 for geek squad 15+ for management. 9 for over night stockin times this by 24 and times that by 5 and you get close to one day of operation for labor

You're having a little trouble keeping your story straight. But whatever. That does fit in with my origiinal argument; you don't appear to be an expert in retail sales. Maybe that's why they moved you from one job to the other. You know, just saying,
