Hahah, how funny would it be if Nintendo had gone the PS route of naming their home consoles :

NES = NES
SNES = NES 2
N64 = NES 3
GC = NES 4
Wii = NES 5
WiiU = NES 6
NX = NES 7?

That would have eventually gotten ludicrous.

Sega wins hands down. Sega master system sounds so badass and I think it's one of the best looking. WiiU blah and X Box one are terrible. I know what Microsoft was doing with the one but that sounds soo freaking stupid being the third console. I know vita means life but hardly anyone else in the US knows that. It's a tie between turbografx and Genesis to me as best.panasonic 3do is cool too.

Honestly, I think new 3DS is worse than Wii U or DSi..

Xbox One doesn't make sense

PlayStation names works out well

I prefer the Xbox One name to Xbox 360. The name scheme follows Windows policy, and the Xbox spans three different Windows ages... The Xbox One is part of the whole "One family, one OS" schtick they have had recently with Windows 10. Onedrive, Onenote, Xbox One... I am surprised a Lumia One hasn't been announced, especially since I am pretty much the MS counterpart of an Apple fan (all my stuff is MS)...

GameCube was a cool name, GBA too, and I believe the Dreamcast had a great name, but PSP, DS, 3DS, Wii no U and NX sound hilarious. They are too oddball for someone who likes short names...

Playstation is bland. It's too much of a mouthful...

Interestingly, OneNote predates all of this by over a decade. It came out in 2002 or 2003 IIRC. OneDrive was ported over from SkyDrive.

Xbox One wouldn't have been nearly as bad if it weren't the 3rd Xbox. I also thought it was the all-in-one strategy that it signified, but I guess it's neither here nor there. If this was a film series people would think it had to be some kind of prank or comedy series. Iron Man. Followed by Iron Man 360! And the third film is Iron Man One!

Which isn't unheard of. Also, I'll take Xbox One over PS4. I mean, at some point, it starts to become annoying. PSOne, PS2... PS3... PS4... alright we know you're obsessed with your cash cow Sony, but would you mind trying to redesign it a bit?!

The logo is also another thing I find MS pulled off better than Sony. The sphere with an X has a very elegant feel to it and seems like something out of a fashion magazine. The PS is too elaborate to give off the same feeling...

Microsoft's xbox one makes sense because they want do what iPhone and Sony does. Next xbox will be called xbox two.

They are going to do this more than likely. It is easy for consumers to remember.

If that's the case, they should have done that from the very beginning. Cause thats just going to confuse ppl even more. Not to mention, that goes against why Microsoft didn't call the 360 the Xbox two cause it would have sounded inferior to the PS3. Reason for the "360" name.

That will sound even worse having a product called Xbox two going up against a PlayStation 5. Ppl will feel like it's three gens behind the ps5, thus being technologically inferior.

It's like cellphones, Samsung and Apple are close in numbers with the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy 5. But what if it was a galaxy 2 against an iPhone 6? That doesn't sound too appealing as a consumer.

I really can't see Microsoft calling it Xbox two.
