Its fun to speculate, but truth is we dont know how this is gona be, we have very little info. All I know is it looked amazing, and Im pretty sure Im gona have alot of fun regardless of the abttle system they use.

We'll just see, too early to judge on this..personally I'm fine with both, although I would slightly prefer turn-based because this game would be a great opportunity to make turn-based mainstream again!
Square said the combat is like Dissidea, which is a 3d action game, so no, it's nothing at all like a turn based RPG.

I tough they had said Dissidia is more action than this, didnt they use ">" signs and said something like Dissidia > KH > this game or am I remembering things wrong ?

Videos don't lie, and that combat is clearly action based. He can say one thing, but until they actually finish outlining what they want to do, we can't say for sure. |
I dont think its clear either way, having the menu on screen where you need to select defend or attack or item, also shows its clearly not action based.

I think they used that to describe the pacing, not the actual mechanics of the battle system.

They used it to describe how much action the game has, comparing it to Dissidea and Kingdom Hearts. I don't understand how this can create any confusion. They showed gameplay, commented on it being an action game, and compared its action directly to there two most actiony Final Fantasy-affiliated franchises released so far. The ATB guage is probably built up over time as a reverse cooldown meter, giving you access to a special attack when it's filled up. You know. Like in fighting games.
Or who knows. The red bar could be like "overheating," where the player can only use basic attacks until they are out of the red. All attacks then fill up that meter, with special moves fulling it more.
Either way, there's no grey area. It's an action game.
| Nem said: Theres alot of disinformation going around from misinterpretation of the footage from the trailer. The game isnt an action game. It is clear there is an ATB bar under the character names, but characters continue auto-attacking when it isnt their turn. The attack comand is a strong attack. The auto-attacks are weak attacks. The defend command beeing an option sugests you dont have a real time control of your character actions. Its an evolution of the ATB system doing away with the nosense, but its not removing it and making it an ARPG like FFXV.
There was alot of disinformation going around, so i thought this thread was necessary. |
So... It's Final Fantasy XII?

By saying "action", do you include movement?
Because you can move your character around in FF XII when your bar is being filled. The character only stops when he(she) is about to execute the... action. Ok, I think I get it.

Not too sure about that. There was another article I think somewhere that described not having full movement control of the character.

All he is saying here is that it's keeping the strategy elements, which is obvious.
I never saw any article saying anything like that.
