What bullshit is that? So instead of purchasing a console and buy games you like to get more of those games you don't buy the console because it has games you don't like?

Long story short? Yes, because other companies have games I like and no games I do not like...

Hiku said:

You won't benefit the devs of those games by merely owning a PS2. You only benefit them by buying their games.
The more a console sells, the more it will get of every type of game. Including good games. But since lower quality games are more common, those increase the most. And more of everything is a good thing. Just don't buy games that you are not interesting to you.
As for the games you mentioned, the first two are from Squaresoft, not Sony. Bloody Roar was published by 5 different companies. Sony were one of them, and only published the Playstation versions, obviously. And there was a Bloody Roar on PS1, PS2 and PS3, so I'm not sure what your're trying to say here.

At first you're saying that you avoid a console if there's a bunch of bad games or shovelware on it. Which I don't see the problem with, because this also means more games from good developers as well. Just don't buy games you're not interested. I have a ton of terrible PS1 games that I picked up for fun for a dollar each in Hong Kong. That doesn't mean I chose to miss out on the great titles that were on the PS1 as well.
Now you seem to say that your reason is that you're missing quality games on PS2? There was no shortage of quality games on that system. If you wanted good rpg's, there was an abundance. Suikoden, Wild Arms, Dragon Quest, Persona, Star Ocean, Tales of series, Shadow Hearts, Xenosaga, Grandia, etc. And there were two Bloody Roar games for it. (And there was one for PS3 as well.) That was the thing with PS2. It basically had everything, and lots of it.

There's also the particular tidbit Sony once claimed that really pissed me off (the one that has to do with not allowing visual novels to be localized because they are not games), especially when I see a few otome VNs are localized! Yet they allow stuff like Quintet in? Please...

I know I can't blame Sony for the lack of good old IPs, but back during the PSOne age, the amount of shovelware was very small and was more often shovelware because of the mechanics rather than the thematic. I didn't really miss anything on the PS2, since I would play the games I wanted on emulators and not give a single cent or positive promotion to them. I definitely see nothing in Persona, but I did play all Suikoden games, Wild Arms, Legend of Legaia, the Tales series (even the ones I had to patch), Chrono Cross, Grandia and others. I simply had no wish to contribute, especially because during the 6th gens, the other two companies had a very low amount of both, as they had apparently AXED them from their system. The thing Sony is doing that is pissing me off is axing perfectly good visual novels and allowing bad games in, which I consider hypocritical and detrimental to the quality of their library. The Xbox One did not ax Psycho Pass at all, yet I still have yet to see a localization of Clannad on the PSVita or even PS4! Should I mention that games like the Oneechanbara are localized though?

I might eventually buy a PS4... a second hand one, with second hand games I like and when Sony has moved to their next console and no longer support it.

I did like Sony, but they went off the rails after the PSOne for me... until they go back to those days where they kept quality control (no games with a budget lower than x, no games that might be too niche, etc...) I'll play for the only team that does. I left Nintendo after the GameCube for the same too...

And if Xbox falls off the train as well, I guess it's bye bye console gaming for me. Hopefully, American companies are more stringent with standards...

You were saying that you like the loser, last gen PS3 was the loser but you still didn't like it.

if you're going to a physical store that means you know what you're getting beforehand so you wouldnt be browsing through a ton of "garbage" anyway.

Err no, digital store...

"SEARCH"? or, how the folks in my homeland say "SUCHE"

I use that on my Vita (if I didn't like Sony, I wouldn't own one, but I am regretting it)...

it would be just easier for him to just admit he doesnt like Sony.

For some people it's never easy. Last gen he wasn't on PS3 that was the worst seller.

I was on the Xbox 360 crossing my fingers they would not fall off the train (they skirted the line with some JP games that were shovelware)...

If anything, it's "I don't want a single buck to reach a dev I don't like" and since the PS4 has tons of those, I have to play it safe and not buy anything related to it. My PSVita itself is on hibernation until Ys 8 arrives.

I'm pretty sure they had a similar amount of garbage on their store... but if you different it must be true.

I am pretty sure Idea Factory has not touched the Xbox One once...

So your definitionn of garbage game is Idea Factory? And since they didn't put games on X1 or X360 then it don't have garbage game? So it would be really easy to not buy garbage games on PS3/4 just avoid Idea Factory, they shouldn't cluster much the marketplace.

They are not the only one. I have a laundry list of devs that I wish would just go bankrupt right now or mergers that should not have happened or companies that should've merged with other ones (I was one of those that cried foul when I saw Tecmo rejected the Square Enix merger in favor of merging with bloody Koei and cried even harder when Namco announced they were merging with Bandai). The devs alone take one third of the PSN library. In the Wii U, they don't exist and in the XONE, they are one tenth. I can deal with one tenth, but I can't deal with one third of them (not counting indies).

And deprive myself of the games I do like? As if that would happen, but if MS went down the same road as the Japanese devs, I might go into the PC master race ranks instead. That's fair game for everyone and the amount of good games is humongous, so the proportion of crappy games is permanently tiny.

I am not spinning anything, but you might be right that I am pissed towards Sony right now. I am pissed that they do not have quality controls or blacklist developers if they are willing to blacklist a genre and then ignore their own claim. I listed those games because back then, those games were niche, yet they were great compared to the moeblob crap that is shoved down the throat of gamers nowadays and that the company won't put a halt to. Then there's what they did that pissed a good dev like Imsomniac off. Yeah, I am NOT going to favor them by a long shot.
