Long story short? Yes, because other companies have games I like and no games I do not like...
There's also the particular tidbit Sony once claimed that really pissed me off (the one that has to do with not allowing visual novels to be localized because they are not games), especially when I see a few otome VNs are localized! Yet they allow stuff like Quintet in? Please... I know I can't blame Sony for the lack of good old IPs, but back during the PSOne age, the amount of shovelware was very small and was more often shovelware because of the mechanics rather than the thematic. I didn't really miss anything on the PS2, since I would play the games I wanted on emulators and not give a single cent or positive promotion to them. I definitely see nothing in Persona, but I did play all Suikoden games, Wild Arms, Legend of Legaia, the Tales series (even the ones I had to patch), Chrono Cross, Grandia and others. I simply had no wish to contribute, especially because during the 6th gens, the other two companies had a very low amount of both, as they had apparently AXED them from their system. The thing Sony is doing that is pissing me off is axing perfectly good visual novels and allowing bad games in, which I consider hypocritical and detrimental to the quality of their library. The Xbox One did not ax Psycho Pass at all, yet I still have yet to see a localization of Clannad on the PSVita or even PS4! Should I mention that games like the Oneechanbara are localized though? I might eventually buy a PS4... a second hand one, with second hand games I like and when Sony has moved to their next console and no longer support it.
No spinning is happening. I am just royally pissed at Sony right now... when they decide Idea Factory has to leave, I will consider buying one...
They are not the only one. I have a laundry list of devs that I wish would just go bankrupt right now or mergers that should not have happened or companies that should've merged with other ones (I was one of those that cried foul when I saw Tecmo rejected the Square Enix merger in favor of merging with bloody Koei and cried even harder when Namco announced they were merging with Bandai). The devs alone take one third of the PSN library. In the Wii U, they don't exist and in the XONE, they are one tenth. I can deal with one tenth, but I can't deal with one third of them (not counting indies).
And deprive myself of the games I do like? As if that would happen, but if MS went down the same road as the Japanese devs, I might go into the PC master race ranks instead. That's fair game for everyone and the amount of good games is humongous, so the proportion of crappy games is permanently tiny.
I am not spinning anything, but you might be right that I am pissed towards Sony right now. I am pissed that they do not have quality controls or blacklist developers if they are willing to blacklist a genre and then ignore their own claim. I listed those games because back then, those games were niche, yet they were great compared to the moeblob crap that is shoved down the throat of gamers nowadays and that the company won't put a halt to. Then there's what they did that pissed a good dev like Imsomniac off. Yeah, I am NOT going to favor them by a long shot. |
Well if those companies you listed make 10% of MS library and 33% of Sony library, and Sony is bigger library can you explain how only 1% of PS4 games are exclusive non-first party games?
Can you please share the numbers you're using to base?
