Except the Wii U's problems stem much more from it's handling then anything to do with it's games, this is such a flawed argument in itself that using it to try and highlight your argument is broken. MK, NSMB, 3DW, Smash and even a new IP in Splatoon they've all sold well and regardless of the Wii U's market share which highlights how little the latter has bearing on the standing of the software in it's library.

We've also seen the same amount of Zelda U as TP at this point, TP had two trailers and Zelda U has had a developer walkthrough and teasers, you don't seem to understand hype culture despite touting it do you. Zelda doesn't need a prolonged campaign for hype the name alone has it, one trailer at E3 and that's it, the 6 months until release are the most crucial time so why waste effort now when most of the hype can be generated then. Hype culture is about strategically released media not oversaturating people with media, this is why Bethesda didn't release anything about Fallout 4 until this year at E3, go figure.

Twilight Princess had shown two substantial trailers with actual gameplay, not an uneventful off-screen gameplay sample and two short cutscene teasers.

The harsh truth of the matter is that Nintendo is not mainstream any more. Hardcore fans like you and me, we're the minority. Mainstream gamers in 2015 have to be regularly bombarded with something to get excited for it.

Again, look at how Naughty Dog/Sony are hyping Uncharted 4. That's how you do it in 2015.

Nope TP had less gameplay, most of it was from cutscenes. Don't seem to understand the mainstream do you, they follow the names of franchises not the media shown, only time they get bombarded is when the game is a new IP again Fallout 4 highlights this as well as showing you straight up that Uncharted's way of doing it is no longer required, look at the recent Tomb Raider despite all the media it was quite a luke warm release it had and it had a similar approach to what Uncharted had.

Only 1 of the 3 clips of Zelda U has shown actual gameplay, and pretty much nothing happens in it. All 3 show the same grass field area.

Twilight Princess had shown gameplay in a variety of locations against a variety of enemies intermixed with its cutscenes. We'd seen bosses, story beats, dungeons, characters.

The cold hard truth is, the mainstream is not hyped for Zelda U. Only us hardcore Nintendo loyalists are. The lack of impactful new material means it has faded from the public consciousness.

Zelda U is open world, from the clips we've seen it's already clear it has more significance then many of the locations shown in TP, what do you do in an open world game? You spend the majority of it in the overworld so obviously they'd focus on that it's common sense, I think you're mistaking your own view as one shared by everyone else, believe me most people are hyped for the game.

The biggest builder of hype for big franchises is suspense and unknown, nothing beats seeing something for the first time, Zelda already has the name to generate hype and the first time people are shown other parts of the game is when it goes into full gear.

I dont know what country you are in, but Tomb Raider got barely any media coverage, it was overshadowed by Fallout 4, Star Wars and evnen BLOPS3 to a lesser extent. Which was his point.

Another question, you said that Zelda was covered by social media, thats not really true. Facebook doesnt mean much because if you already follow Ninty stuff and have friends that do, of course you are going to see it. Twitter is a better indicator. FF7 reveal and it was the number 7 trending topic, Fallout 4 was even higher a couple of weeks ago. Same on instagram. Now thats media coverage. Never saw Zelda up there not once.

A lack of coverage does not build hype, it defuses hype.

And no offense, but I believe it is you who are incorrectly assuming your own views are shared by the majority. Me, I am hyped for the game. I am a hardcore Nintendo fan. But I also recognize that I am in the minority and that the average mainstream gamer in 2016 doesn't care about Zelda U. Don't make the mistake of thinking that because you are hyped, everyone else is.

Well you're going to have to show me that those who are hyped for Zelda are in the minority because so far each mainline Zelda has done fine we can even have a bet if you like on it that the new game will do just as well as any previous game or even better. A lack of coverage didn't hurt TP or games like Fallout 4.

Tomb Raider got the type of coverage he's asking for, it was shown with gameplay every now and then and had hyped up by MS, it's funny you want to ignore the biggest social media platform in FB and when something trends on FB it's not when your friends post it on feeds it shows up on the feed on the side, Splatoon also achieved the same so if you didn't see it that's not my problem, Fallout 4 even proves my point in that it's not the amount of media coverage that matters it's the type of startegy employed.

Look at the gaming media. None of the major outlets are talking about Zelda U, because there's nothing new to talk about. Look at gaming forums. It's getting nowhere near as much discussion as games like Uncharted 4.

The only people talking about it are hardcore Nintendo fans, and the Wii U's sales prove that this is a shrinking fanbase.

I question whether you're ignoring sense for the sake of your argument, outlets and forums won't talk about it when they haven't been given media, they aren't talking about KH3, Shemue 3 or many other games either this doesn't say anything about hype when they've not been given media, companies today are more strategic in the media they give out how you don't understand this is beyond me or maybe you're playing coy to continue your little stance here.

Again I'll ask you do you want to bet on the next Zelda game? I'll straight up bet you that it'll do just as well as any previous game.
