was there ever a time when gamers liked secrecy? cause i doubt it. I think some people dealt with it from Ninty cause thats just how they did things, but the way things are now, i think its less tolerated.

I don't know if there ever was, but it's certainly less tolerated today.

Gamers can't stay excited for almost a year of nothing. Hype dies fast, and needs to be regularly replenished. Sony gets this. Microsoft gets this. Games like Uncharted 4 recieve new material rolled out every few months to sustain the hype train.

Nintendo should be doing the same thing with Zelda. Instead, they give it a little push, then sit back and let it run out of momentum and grind to a halt. I'm not sure I can ever remember there being less hype for a Zelda game a year out.

One does not simply lose hype for Zelda.

Mainstream gamers do.

Nintendo fans like us often seem to forget that we're a minority. Sure, we may get hyped over 13 seconds of footage in a year, but most gamers don't.

Zelda isn't even on the radar for your average gamer in December 2015.

Nintendo doesn't get that, because apparently their management think it's still 2009.

I think there's a time. Nobody will be asking for more Zelda footage if we had a pretty big support console, but considering after Xenoblade, Zelda is the next big game, not knowing anything about it doesn't not bode well for the future of the console's support.

One has to wonder how well this game will sell. Cause i still plan on getting it myself. Whenever i get a Wii U. But with that install base? Jeez. I'm seeing no hype. It might be only the big Zelda fans that will get it. I wouldnt be surprised if its the least selling 3d Zelda, unless they have an NX port ready.

Yep. Hype is nowhere near Twilight Princess and won't never be with that horrible Wii U installbase and Nintendo being so quiet about it. That does not give confidence in the project.

Hell I think a Link Between Worlds got more hype than this. Even the Majora's Mask rerelease seemed to have more hype

Ninty is the only one that doesnt get it. and this is a console entry no less

Well, TPHD is also under the radar of many people. In the "Most Wanted Games" thread I did't see anyone voting for it or Hyrule Warriors Legends. Maybe fans have enough of re-releases and spin-offs and considering the new one have only 13 seconds footage in an entire year, it's not a surprise that many of them are not hyped for this game.

I will keep saying this forever: this gen was a mess for the Zelda management department.

I don't know about Link Between Worlds, but Skyward Sword certainly had more awareness a year out; we'd gotten a proper gameplay trailer, and plenty of uncut gameplay.

Twilight Princess was one of the most talked about games on the internet a year from its release, from what I recall anyway. The hype was through the roof.

But Zelda U? Beyond the hardcore Nintendo fanbase, its existence is barely even acknowledged.

Yeah but what they can win showing more, right?

Unsure if this is sarcasm, but in this day and age, hype is important. Not just to a game's sales either, but in the case of exclusives, to the console and its manufacturer's image.

The lack of hype for Zelda U is hurting both Nintendo and the Wii U.
