I think placements are irrelevant and are generally used when fanboys are having their little battles.  All I want is a healthy market.  Nintendo will be happy if they go from 15m wii u's to 70m NX home consoles and won't care if they are first,  second or third.

90% of this site and general fans seem to go via placement than numbers themselves, only those really into sales hardcore seem to go by numbers strictly. Nintendo as far as I know seems to be fine with how they are, they haven't been oozing with PR or messages of "we're super unhappy and dislike where we are at the moment" type messages which shows that for the longest time they don't seem to mind where they land, the other two seem to care exactly where they stand more than Nintendo will.

I'd like some evidence of that please. Hold the Bias and Conjecture, just give me teh facts with a side of direct quotes if you can.

I also want to see this.

And Puggsly you are correct in everything you say.  Bottom line is compared to wii u the xbox one is doing fine.  And that's despite a few million more wii u's sold in Japan and the headstart.

Agreed with all of the above haggling on Wii U Vs XBOX ONE.

How about a simpler way to put it

So far in 2015 - XONE has sold about 1.55 million - over 40% of that is from the UK. Outside of the UK XONE sales are about 15% ahead of Wii U (ballpark). In France and Germany the situation appears to be competitive between the 2 systems.

Given that the Wii U has the stink of failure hanging so heavily over it (I own one and I love it BTW so please don't take my description of the market sentiment as a flame) - its not a great place for X1 to be. XONE needs the UK quite badly otherwise it essentially becomes a US only console.

Given all of that - MS is VERY good at keeping a console fresh over the long term (product development, price cuts, marketing support etc). I'm pretty sure they will finish this gen with a better geographical spread of sales than what it looks like now.

Erm..... except Japan of course. God bless their results in Japan. I'm not sure WHAT they could have done there to succeed apart from give it away. Public sentiment there was against them from the start. Good on them for trying though.
