Absolutely this. If releasing a game digitally is the only way it's financially viable to localize it, then we're lucky we can still play it. I feel very sorry for people who feel that owning a piece of plastic is literally more important than the actual game. Makes it seem like they never really cared in the first place beyond collection puposes.

If Nintendo was aware of the sales history, why even get involved? Whats the point?
The point should have been a big popular company helping to grow the series right?
Yeah, the fact that this game didn't get any physical copies here in the states was pretty much the sole reason on why I skipped this game. :/
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
I bought the limited edition for 60€. That's okay, I guess. It's a bit more expensive than other Wii U titles, but still cheaper than most PS4 games, so I'm cool with it. And it really paid off for me, because my GF and I enjoyed this game very much. I recommend it to anyone who likes japanese-style horror movies. Still, I don't get why NoA didn't release that same limited edition in the US. I'm sure there are as much potential buyers out there.
I would buy a physical copy. Obviously in Canada, not an option.
I might get it at a big sale down the road, which is sad because I was really looking forward to this game.
