Everything I listed is available for free eight now.  The season pass will be 4 big expansions next year.  Additionally they will make more free maps next year too.

The maps in battlefront are like 100 times bigger than splatoons and far more detailed.  if it's light on content then splatoon is still light on content.

Dude it doesnt matter if the maps are bigger, Splatoon is more fun, that's it. SWB being less shallow than Splatoon had almost 10 points less on meta, I wonder why. And the game is too shallow for 60$ if you dont buy those expansion, Splatoon too but it was growing constantly for free and is still doing it.

In your opinion it's more fun.  I've played both and I'd choose battlefront all day long.

Battlefront is a far more advanced shooter.  It's basically the movies put into a game.  The reviews took marks off for lack of content be it a campaign or maps.

Splatoon hasn't a whole lot of offline content either and it launched with a very basic package.  Yes it got free stuff but so will battlefront.

So tell me how splatoon content wise is better if it's got a similar number of maps,  they're all tiny compared,  it has way fewer game modes,  no online survival Co op,  way fewer players per game,  no voice chat,  way worse graphics,  sound and more basic gameplay.

They're different types of games but even after a ton of free updates battlefront is still equal now in terms of content.

is more fun, that's why. You said that is an opinion, yeah, it is,because otherwise we should be praising games for numbers instead of for what they are meant for. Do you believe that a song is better for putting more instruments? Or a film better for having more special effects? Then why do you thik you can find objectivity on the quality of games going by numbers? SWB can have big maps, milions of polygons and whatever you want, is still not as addictive and fresh as Splatoon. And btw Splatoon actually has a real single campaign. Free.

Seeing as you're going on about this free stuff in the sake of fairness don't forget to mention the dlc kept behind expensive figurines.

You've brought me off on a tangent now.  My original post was just pointing out neither game is heavy on content especially at launch and they were scrutinised for it.  Shooters in the west have extremely high standards so that's why the metas are low 70 and low 80.

You brought up which is more fun and to me battlefront is way more.  I'm looking for a super realistic star wars multiplayer game I can play and communicate with my friends.  There's already been two free maps so I'm very happy so far.

If you are looking for a more basic shooter,  targeted at a younger audience then that's your prerogative.  I'm not judging you and I can see why you prefer splatoon.  But to me battlefront is streets ahead as a shooter.

But I get how you'd enjoy a less serious, family friendly shooter.  My equivalent family friendly game this year was rocket league and I enjoyed it for months. You'd love that one!

I do. RL is great.

SWB is fun, but I wont say Splatoon is more basic at all, I have played SWB last week and gave me the impression to be very casual friendly and simple. Wich is nothing bad because is fun anyways. But I actually see more depth on Splatoon, also it has way more weapons that feel very different from each other and the maps are little but make way more sense, SWB maps are sometimes weird for a multiplayer game, like if they are more worried about the look than the design. To each their own, they are targeted to a very different audience and they work, but I think is pretty obvious wich one will be remembered the most independently of our personal tastes.

They will both be remembered.  Battlefront is a reboot so battlefront 2 in two years will be much bigger and better.

Splatoon will also live long and I'm sure the sequel will do great.  BTW which will sell more?  Both have a bundle but my money is on battlefront despite much stiffer FPS and TPS competition on Playstation.

SWB will sell more, but that's obvious, is Star Wars, is Battlefront, is on 3 systems, there is no way a new IP on a system with Dreamcast level of sales sells more, but the potential of the ip is just huge, going by the attach rate Splatoon could have sold 15 or 20 milions on a succesfull console like the Wii.

I think you need to edit the title and honestly acknowledge the rest of the JRPG landscape, most notably SquareEnix. They are already allocating massive budgets to their RPGS and executing multi-platform launches. Given the fanfare surrounding the remake of FFVII, it's hard for me to look at Nintendo having much of anything to do with the notoriety of global JRPG launches. For reference sake, the E3 2015 FFVII remake trailer has 12M+ views, while the XCX trailer is under 500K. Let's also keep in mind that SE is launching games on 3X the install base of XCX. That's just one publisher, but it makes the OP's thesis seem woefully incomplete.

Thankyou for helping the lazy people like me!
And yeah i agree with that. I want them to tackle a genre without using their popular characters like Mario.

Pocky Lover Boy!

You can't just transfer the attach rate like that.  Nintendo have a hardcore of a few million that will jump all over their mainstream quality titles like smash,  mario,  mario kart,  pokemon and now splatoon.

You're right the comparison isn't fair.  How about ps4 version only vs splatoon?

Going by the exact attach rate, Splatoon would sell like 40 milions on Wii, I didn't use that. With bigger numbers the attach rate is lower, that´s why I said 15 or 20, I was thinking on Mario Kart, it had a 30 - 35% attach rate in Wii and then now a +50% on WiiU because there is less wiiu sold. So while I´m not sure exactly how the bigger number would affect to Splatoon, I'm completely sure it would be at least above 10 milions on Wii.

About the question, Is hard to say, because online FPS sell like beasts on Ps4, and since the console has actually 3 times the userbase of WiiU, and we are talking about a really powerfull ip like Star Wars, is hard to beat. I would say Splatoon IF the Star War movie was not coming, because SWB would probably have no legs, so even if it sells 2.5 milion first week, it would fall quickly, but that's the thing, on 17th December comes the biggest cinematographic event in years, Star Wars The Force Awakens, and that is gonna make a huge bump in SWB sales on holidays, so I guess it will be above Splatoon at the end.
