Given the market share of the PS4, it's clear that MOST people prefer it to XB1, not just this forum. All three consoles have their own strengths and weaknesses, but the PS4 is mostly strengths in the face of its primary task of playing video games. 

Most of the reasons you believe the XB1 to be superior are conjecture and opinion alone (I personally believe that game selection is important, the XB1 controller is garbage, and the XB1 UI has too many unnecessary bells and whistles to do the same things). I'm not sure what "PlayTo" is, but PS4 does have a DNS streaming application in Media Center, and for the good of XB1 users... I would keep that video site under your hat as much as possible. We'll also mark that up as a +1 for XB1.

The problem is the things that the XB1 legitimately does better in measurable ways don't have anything to do with games. Of all the multiplatform games, curiously the only ones that perform better on XB1 are the ones that MS bought marketing rights for. All others perform better on PS4. 

In addition, the PS4 has the better hardware, larger existing game collection, larger selection of exclusives (with a higher average Metacritic, too), and two extra (albeit worthless) functions on its controller with motion sensing and touch. The XB1 is capable of streaming to a Windows 10 machine, but PS4 is about to stream to 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and Mac.in addition, it can already stream to Android (official through Sony, hacked otherwise), Vita, and PSTV. 

XB1 also has the backwards compatibility, though it only redeems digital copies of games. Still a significant bonus, though PS4 seems to be gearing up for PS2 BC, with pseudo-BC for PS3 being an (expensive) option and rumors of other BC plans in the works. 

In short, the XB1 is a great system. But PS4 has taken all their ideas and cranked it to 11. If you have an XB1 already or just prefer it to PS4, you'll only miss out on about 15% of AAA titles and gain access to Halo, Forza, Gears, and whatever else they have on Xbox. But sheer numbers and facts put the PS4 at the head of the pack. 

DISCLAIMER: I didn't mention Wii U because it doesn't compete. Not that it can't, but because it aims not to. I recommend Wii U to everyone as a supplementary system for games like Mario, Smash, and Zelda. Whether you're PC, Xbox, or PlayStation, not getting a Wii U is unbecoming of a true Gamer.

Best selling console does equal the best console. At least in the minds of the majority.

What is wrong with the Xbox One UI?  Faster than the Xbox 360s now.  I have some complaints like not being able to customize the home screen as heavily since the update, but its wicked fast now.  

Calling the Xbox One controller garbage?  Makes the X360 controller look and feel like a plastic piece of crap.  I mean you can keep your finger on the trigger and still use bumpers....  Lot of CoD people buy Scuf controllers for ~$170 but the Elite has the similiar functionality with the button paddles on the back and the Elite is just far more premium and customizable at a cheaper price.   Hearing the CoD pros complain about the DS controller never gets old.

I play sports, cod, and a handful of exclusives on console and the rest on PC.  Only reason I'd go out and buy a PS4 today is if I was a fan of jrpgs and similiar genres.  
I see performance and graphical differences between 1440p 144Hz monitor to consoles as you see console to console differences.  I've no idea how console to console matters, so tiny.   Try playing CS:GO on 144Hz monitor then go back to 60Hz.  Those are performance differences you see and they will make you hate playing at only 60fps.  And 1440p resolution speaks for itself.  Fallout 4 and The Witcher look great! 

But next year looks to be the PS4's first interesting year and I'll have one by April to play a few exclusives every year :) 

"Best" is never settled.

Personal best, critical best, and commercial best. Most of us put emphasis on personal because who cares what others buy or like. That said, makes it hard to argue as then there is no consensus so rather than "best" are just saying "I like ...".

Best selling, most powerful, most games , no argument IMO. PS4 is in general the best console.

That does not mean it's the best FOR YOU, everyone has different circumstances, tastes, obviously.

Edit: Title of most improved console definitely goes to X1, the new UI is substantially faster.

Yes, I do call it garbage, because that's my personal opinion on it, like I said from the get-go. I didn't like the 360 pad, either. The only Xbox controller I liked was the original fat controller, but I was mostly alone in that sentiment. And guess what? All opinion and personal preference. And CoD pros in and of itself is an unimportant bunch. If they were actual pros of an FPS, they'd be using keyboard and mouse.

As far as your preferences on game genre are concerned, I don't really care, nor is it relevant. In that regard, PC isn't a console, so bringing it up in a thread regarding consoles and their sales is a moot point and only shows that you're reaching. Overall, your post starts off attacking opinions with a hope for argument and ending with off topic.

The majority have been saying this because they believe it... your way of disagreeing is like trying to say it's a lie, but you can't make it objectively.

It actually does, with the sole exception being the 7th were all 3 did well.

Cool story, but in this case it is. The PS4 has all the JRPGs, more released retail exclusives, currently the best exclusive imo (Bloodborne), superior multiplat performance, and it is even getting what might be the best X1 timed exclusive title next year. The X1 was barren just after last holiday and saw nothing all year, really lost my interest in it there (i still have mine, just don't play it).

Slice it how you want, PS4 is hands down the best console this gen with the best games, released and upcoming, in my humble opinion as someone who has all three consoles.
