Of course it's all just a bit of fun, but I would never consider a game released in the last year or so for best game ever. It's only in the fullness of time that you can reflect on how good a game actually is I feel. Super Mario World is of course twice as good as Undertale and 2000000 times more significant.

NB. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a better game than Pokémon Red/Blue too, but I'll let it slide as I like both games a lot.

It's up to Pokemon to crush it next round!

I dunno man, I mean, is it really a fair comparison? One of them is one the best designed, most influental, creative, and groundbraking games in history, with some of the most likeable characters ever created and one of the most memorable soundtracks to ever grace this industry, the other one is just a crappier version of Mario 3. lol, I kid (no I don't). But after playing both, Undertale is clearly the better game, in my mind, anyway, and judging from the poll, a heck of a lot more people owe themselves to play it. Guys, just do it, here's the demo:

I haven't played Undertale yet, so 3 of those four things you said might be true, but influential? That can be looked at pretty objectively, and no, Undertale isn't one of the most influential games in history. That's pure bullshit. Like, it's not even remotely true at all.

I'm sure it's a great game, but the main reason it won was because of the reddit/tumblr rallies.

Don't be dude. Take it from someone who once thought that the game was nothing special before playing it, just your tipical "charming" indie game, it is now my favorite game of all time, came right out of the blue, I never expected THAT to happen, I was 99% sure nothing would beat my previous favorite game (Paper Mario on the N64) but this game just, this game just...

...makes me happy, man. Heh he.

Oh, it influences a plenty, I mean, have you been to Tumblr lately?! The mere existance of this game makes the place somewhat bearable, that alone should make this game reach legendary status right there. :P

Arguing which game is better is a fruitless endeavor given how different they are. Though I'm glad Undertale won because it's the newer game and now more people would want to play it and support it.
