Forums - Sony - What could GG do to Killzone to take it to the next level (sales and reception)?

Make the helghast the protagonist.

I can't speak for what they could do to improve the game, as I haven't played any entry in the series; however, I can speak for what has made me overlook the series, and that's primarily the weak protagonist. From the brief reading I have done on the backstory it seems like the helghast are arguably the good guys (albeit extreme in their measures). Not to mention they are way more interesting (there's a reason most of the advertising focuses on the image of the helghast).

From the advertising, I can't actually recall the slightest thing about the protagonist. I only played roughly 20 minutes into Killzone 2 and the overall grandness of the conflict was lost in the mediocrity of the characters. This ruined the experience for me, despite the fact that I really enjoyed the other aspects of the game (I actually like the weighted feel of weapons in games that everyone complained about initially and I feel that the Killzone series is great at encompassing a chaotic battlefield from the gameplay videos I've watched).

I remember people asking for a Killzone game where the Helghast would be protagonist even before the announcement of Shadow Fall.

I understand the complaints about the protagonist. I feel GG wants to portray normal characters in war situations and they may come off as bland. I feel it is the same situation with Gears of War characters.

Perhaps GG making an interesting character, like their version of Nathan Drake in memorability, could spice things up.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

REQUIESCAT IN PACE

I Hate REMASTERS

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

Figure out a way to increase the player population online. I bought Killzone at launch, partly because DLC was going to be free and partly because I am tired of having to go to COD for my FPS fix. Within like, a couple months, the player count was down to almost nothing.

Killzone needs to stop playing like Killzone. Turn it into a CoD and Halo clone.

Killzone is just boring. Not horrible, but boring.

Killzone is a solid franchise that has good sales and good reception. I don't think there is someone who has played this game and thought it was completely awful.

But it feels like the Killzone franchise still has space to grow to get more sales and reviews that will cite the game as another possible reason to get a PlayStation console.

So I ask you? Are there things you consider that Guerrilla Games could do with Killzone to make the games even better? Things you'd like to see in the Killzone games? Things you think the game should get rid of, add, or improve upon?

They need to undo KZ:SF as the story was bad, the protagonists was as good as non existent and I miss that damn Theme song!

They need to go back to the original setting and continue where they left off.

The biggest mistake they made was take the mp backwards.

KZ was the first fps I know of to have:

1) mechs in mp

2) have dynamic changing maps

They got rid of both. The mech thing became the biggest hype with TF and AW. The dynamic maps became huge with BF. GG were stupid to gimp their mp.

There's really not much. They went for graphics, didn't work at grabbing the casual market, they went for better multiplayer, didn't work, they went for more engrossing story, didn't work, they went for generic non-numbered title to hook Xbox converts, didn't work. Let the series live in casual obscurity at this point, it's probably better for fans that way.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Reboot into Helghast mode. I'm sure there's something cool to be worked from there.

Btw, the design always made me think of Jin-Roh.
