Why the fuck would they do this though?... Doesn't the US use their airspace all the time too?

US is a member of NATO, as is Turkey.  Russia is not.

I am sure Greece will be thrilled to know that Turkey is fine with them shooting down all the turkish jets that repeatedly violate their airspace.

If Greece decided to shoot down a Turkish airplane violating it's airspace then Turkey indeed has nothing to bitch about.

The thing is though Turkey have repeatedly stated over the years such accidental incursions are inevitable due to the speed of jets and such incursions should never lead to a jet being shot down. It seems those statements are only intended for others not themselves. The reality is though at those speeds when operating near borders it takes all of a few seconds of the pilots attention being on something else for them to stray. Those jets are capable of travelling 20 kilometers in under a minute.

Sorry but NATO ain't shit. During the intervention in Lybia, most members didn't even contribute anything. I doubt they'll pick up weapons to start a world war for Turkey.

You're comparing Lybia with Turkey, one of NATO's most important allies... Turkey has more active military personnel than Germany and France combined. Not to speak over Turkey controlling access to the Black Sea and Turkey being NATO's gateway to the Middle East. Turkey wasn't one of the first countries to join the alliance after it's creation just for shits and giggles.

Russians will make them pay, Putin is already suggesting high Turk officials support isis, other media outlets will tie it in and sink turkey.

It started already, Hes one of the few world leaders that can expose the dirt of others and sit back and laugh since they cant do shit all.

And they will likely fire at the Turks sooner or later, all missions will now get Flanker escort and be under the Cruiser Moskvas air defense.

It is well known on all sides that Turkey is at best ambivalent towards ISIS so that is not going to shock anyone. ISIS funnels oil, weapons and troops through Turkey, if turkey was really against ISIS at the very least the oil trucks would have been prevented long ago.

Doesn't matter - Turkey is still ranked below France and Germany in military power. The most powerful member of NATO couldn't do anything in Syria. Weren't they hell-bent on getting rid of Assad? What happened?

Not so well to some white knight Turk defenders in here.

By the way Su24 was in syrian airspace when shot down, Turkey actually vilated Syrian Airspace to attack it.  Hilarious hypocracy by the dumb Turks.  Hope Russia parks some of their best sams near the Turk border and lights up anything that dares to enter the skies.

Uhm, when did they even try? Did I miss something? If the US wanted to get rid of Syria then there's no more Syria tomorrow. Same with Russia, if they tried the war would be over tomorrow.

And nobody is interested in ending the war in Syria except the parties with boots along the frontline. Less oil on the market = higher oil price = more $$$ for countries who export oil. An active war benefits all sides, even Russia.

Yes, poke the sleeping bear. Please do. I want to see it in action.
