The thing is though Turkey have repeatedly stated over the years such accidental incursions are inevitable due to the speed of jets and such incursions should never lead to a jet being shot down. It seems those statements are only intended for others not themselves. The reality is though at those speeds when operating near borders it takes all of a few seconds of the pilots attention being on something else for them to stray. Those jets are capable of travelling 20 kilometers in under a minute.
