This Steam machine project will hurt Valve tremendously. They should probably stick to making amazing games and handling the software side of Steam.

They were so good at making games.  Why did they stop?  They could be making a lot more money if they invested it in new software instead of these.

Seems to be a good deal to resell the parts espacially the graphicscards

Sure if you're heavily into scalping and are only in it for the scalping business, good thing society looks down on that particular crowd though.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Most Steam Machines have Windows and Steam OS installed......

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Its called supply and demand.

If you buy something for cheap enough that you can resell it to somebody then obviously it is rare and highly desirable or your giving them a good deal so everybody wins

And yet it's looked down upon.

I don't win if I have to pay a higher price for an item that still exists elsewhere, also Sony was very disappointed at thos PS1 clasic 4's being sold off by scalpers, even they looked down upon folk who did that, scalping is shit no matter how yout ry to spin or join it, there is supply and demand and then there is scalping.

Also lets go a bit further: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand Scalping isn't present in Supply and demand and yet Scalping has it's own article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalping_%28trading%29

Either way it is not at the core supply and demand, Bethesda selling a limited supply of collector edition pip boys to then run out and supply them again is proper supply and demand. Pulling apart a piece of tech to sell the parts indicidually which are already sold seperately via multiple existing markets for a higher price is called scalping, not suppy and demand.

Sorry but doing what he suggested is not even remotely supply and demand, that's scalping pure and simple and I look down upon such a notion, all those parts withn that SM are sold at different prices and sold seperately to begin with anyway.

This topic is about the prices of the machines as a whole and he suggests ripping them apart to scalp with btw.

Are you suggesting that scalping is not part of supply and demand? Scalping is the essence of supply and demand.....

Nothing wrong with buying an object with the intent to sell at a profit.

You seem to have an idea of how supply and demand works but you seem to not like the idea of Scalping being looked down upon, whatever float your boat is fine and all but it's not a part of S&D and I'm still looking for hard concerete entries claiming that scalping is fully a part if not at the core of S&D and I'm not finding anything. I guess I'll ask my boss at work this week how he feels if someone bought one of his products for less and scalped them off to pundits for triple the price making more money than he did with his product.

I guess you also have zero idea on greed either but hey rgeed is totally legit safe and welcome though right?. Also we can totally go at this all day and night but you're taking this off the rails with yout intent to make scalping a legit happy go lucky thing when this topic is about STeam machines price, not scalping the pieces of a machine off like one user already suggested.

You should update the parent post to be more accurate. As The Pi guy said you have the incorrect spec on the second machine. It is a 960 not a 970.

Exactly and some of their games are so highly anticipated that they would sell a truckload of them. Instead they invest their time in this...

I'll wait until more games are supported and the performance of Steam OS gets significantly better.

Just a quick question: Is the steam controller bundled with every steam machine?
