Hello ? no hype around X ? where have you been in the past couple years ?

from a sales standpoint it already sold 120k according to VGC in Japan, that's pretty good considering the original did 160k LT and we're near the holiday season, so it's going to sell more than 500k in the west by the end of the year ;)

Actually it sold more than 143k already, since digital sales in may are known (around 23k).And that number is even bigger, since we dont have data for digital sales of the other months, so its already outperforming the original in japan, even if by a small margin

Using Famitsu Digital Estimates as basis of fact and then extrapolating past that based on zero information seems like a bad piece of evidence. Especially with a game that experienced zero legs.

This is probably off topic, but hey, it's related loosely.

Where is Monolith Soft going from here? This game is what, five times larger than the last? What are they gonna do for Xenoblade Chronicles NX? Five times larger than this game? 25 continents?

I was thinking about this because I recently read a quote that the next game is already in development. They also said they were taking and agreeing with fan feedback on a more story focus like the original. But in the same quote, a more ambitious online presence was mentioned. And you know what else was mentioned? Space travel.

Space. Travel.

And at first I was like "okay, that's silly. No way that's happening." But then I was like "is it?" Space travel? It would make sense of the increasing scale of these games, at least. Instead of 25 continents or something absurd on one planet, what if there were multiple explorable planets, moons, and space colonies, and their combined size added up to 25 XCX sized colonies? What about flying Mechas - in space? What about getting an airship - In space? What if that's the step up? Giant space battles with a decked out airship using the now quintessential Xenoblade combat system?

Could it really not happen? Is it even worth it? I'm usually against games dick waving map sizes, but an epic intergalactic space opera sounds fucking awesome. And having space as this giant hub between them would be impressive as all hell. Thinking about a crafted game that actually makes XCX look small hurts my brain.

And that's the thing, the next game is pretty much guaranteed to have an epic story like the original, but combining the grander scale of XCX. The director said so. That's pretty much all we really know about it.

The other thing to note is the massive graphical upgrade XCX got from XC in the transition to new hardware. That's going to happen again on the NX. I think it will be very similar in a lot of ways to Bloodborne in that regard. Dark Souls was never a graphically pretty masterpiece, but it had great art direction and it shone through. Then Bloodborne came and looks absolutely incredible. I think the next Xenoblade will be in a very similar boat. In fact, it already happened between the original and this one, but I think the effect will be much more prominent in the next game. I think that a lot of the derp XCX gets away with because reasons are going to be ironed out to a pristine shine in the next game and give us something really special.

I've been thinking this for a while, but even though I haven't spoiled the game for myself, I have a feeling that XCX is going to be to XC what MM was to OoT. A very different, but equally as good, entry to the franchise. I have a feeling that a lot of people will prefer the original, but I am really happy (should they pull this off successfully) that XCX is so different from XC. It sets a very nice president for the franchise - a willingness to stay fresh with each new entry. Whatever happens with the next game, I really hope that spirit continues. It's a very good way to go about things. Reminds me a lot about Zelda, in the best ways.

Well, we are in a site that tries to predict sales of games.Until we have an official number or a source that is considered to be more accurate, I dont see the problem of using famitsus numbers. And if im not mistaken, Famitsu digital estimates are respected.I mean, they may not be always acurate, but they are not always far off.And how saying that the game should have sold more digitally in the other months a extrapolation? The game may not have Splatoon, Mario Maker or any of the other Nintendo titles legs, but that dosent mean that it wont keep selling at a lower rate. And the original game sold around 100k in the first months if im not mistaken, but went to sell more than 160k LT(I heard someone saying that the numbers in VGC are undertracked and it sold around 200k in Japan but i digress). It may take time, but its more than possible, and i say inevitable, that XCX will sell more than XC in Japan. It all points to that.Unless you have some evidence that says otherwise?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

About time, guys in my local GAME have never heard of it.

Are you an employee at GAME ? If so are there any posters/hardocover advertisements for X ? that would help a lot, Immagine all the people entering a shop and seeing a Skell...

I used to, same people more or less still work there. I guess the UK doesn't sell much Wii U stuff, at least this AD is a start.

The Majora's Mask comparison is apt actually, cause this game from everything I have seen has devoted a considerable amount of story substance to the Affinity Mission side quests where you can immerse yourself in the characters and learn about them, etc.  But then you don't have to.

As for space travel or space combat, I could see that. I think they could go direct sequel this time but following another one of the ark ships that escaped.  A whole new planet, a whole new ark based on a whole other culture.  We can assume that other arks from other countries would have different city designs and different smell and armor designs.  We can also assume not all crash landed.  So we could see a Ark that arrived in tact, the life hold and city landing properly and the ship in a geostationary orbit.  The ship could then serve as another continent/region is a way.  And defending it or exploring the moon of the world perhaps could involve space combat or travel on some level.  Of course, there's also possibility of planet to planet travel too.

Great, Nintendo just realized that XenoCross was their big Holiday game.

Oh and one more promo I hope they go for: theater ads during the Star Wars opening week.

I mean, we know they're working on another game. I'm just assuming that it's another entry in the Xenoblade franchise. I think that's a fairly safe call.

Right. I think that wherever the series goes, it'll be exciting to watch.
