i don't think the ps3 is under rated ... people know that the ps3 is powerful. sony has/had just unluck and in some way the deserve it. i must always think about the sentence that "people will work harder to buy a ps3". i worked my ass off the last 3 days - up to 13 hours per day - and i can't get this sentence out of my head: "work harder" i have so less free time so iam really satifsfied with the wii, nearly as much as having time to post here :)

Developers are underestimating the power of the Playstation 3, therefore, they aren't using its maximum power.

Stop making stuff up please. That is just plain nonsense.

The PS3 GPU is pretty much crap compared to the 360 GPU and during the console's lifetimes it will show. It doesn't mean there's not going to be very nice, well made titles for PS3. It just means that if you put an equal amount of effort and talent (which is what matters the most) in developing a PS3 and 360 title, the 360 title is going to look better. The Cell isn't going to save it when it comes to graphics.

Ok.... Please have facts to backup your own statements. If you can accuse someone else of making stuff up, you are no different if you dun have proof of your self made theories. Anyone can say anything! Whether it is true or not, please have some proof.

The PS3 can be converted to a home nuclear reactor to power your house for 100 years. - My own rubbish, just like yours.

Playstation 3's GPU = 550. Xbox 360's GPU = 500.

Xenos is clocked at 500MHZ *192 shader ops per clock = 96 billion shader ops per second.

The RSX is clocked at 550MHZ *136 shader ops per clock =74.8 billion shader ops per second.

There was talk that the RSX is actually running at 500MHZ. Sony still hasn’t officially come out and confirmed the 550MHz claim.

If the RSX is clocked at 500MHZ*136 shader ops per clock that would make the new shader operations per second for the RSX 68 billion instead of the original 74.8 billion.

Either way the 360 GPU is superior.

I'd say the PS3 is vastly overrated by the Sony fanboys

well, Sharp claims to be making a bluray player for only $150 so ps3s main pro will be gone.

Huh?

We're talking HD here. All the point of HD is quality. So no, just having a BluRay player doesn't cut it. It has to deliver a better picture too. That's what the PS3 seems to do with some HDTV, for less than other BluRay players.

At $150, I doubt they will equal PS3 BluRay performance. Unless it's $150 in 5 years.

And I'm sure a lot of people bought the PS3 for its BluRay player only. In France, I know a lot of people bought it only for that, so I think it's the same in the rest of the world.

No wonder the game attach ratio is so low.

Crazzyman mentioned the 3 million per frame on Dead Rising. What that ignores is that the game layout is more like GTA than RE4, so the engine had to be optimized for large areas. Therefore, the polygon count had to be low, as it would on a PS3 game.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

The thing is that I don't underesteemate it, I know what it does but it doesn't appeal to me... Graphics do impress me but I'm good enough with the Wii's graphics so why spend that much if I'm already okay with what I have? Another point is there aren't many games I'm interested in... I really love Final Fantasy but it's about the only game I'm interested in, and I will never spend that much money for only one game. I know it has also multi media capacities on it but personally, don't care much about blu-ray or any of the other stuff. On a final note, I don't have anything against the console itself, and if people are happy with it when they buy it, well good for them! It also does competition... I hate Sony's, attitude though.

8 month, yeah 2,5mln. comparing to ~115 mln. ps2 sold is really a lot, lol.

we speak about worldwide sales, not just japan.

it`s interesting comparison, it appears that PS3 costs twice more, then ps2.

complains about price are stupid.
dvd cost 25$ and blu-ray rom 125$, for 100$ you get:
a) moovies in Full HD 1080p.
b) you get silent console, 16x DVD is really noisy.
c) you get a lot of space, all games on 1BD - comfort.

for another 100$ you get:
a) really god quality, console may work next 5 years without problems.
b) wi-fi.
c) +40GB.
d) some amazing 3rd party exclusives and japan developers support.
e) free online

you're the one who brought up Japan by comparing PS3's worldwide sales to PS2's japan only sales (which were about the same) and saying that the PS3 is selling as well as the PS2 did at launch, which is obviously false.

I don't know why you are bringing up price or what you get out of it (or, comparing 2.5mil to 115mil, which doesn't make sense. It clearly says Japan sales were 2.5 mil which are >10% of Lifetime PS2 sales in Japan). Sometimes I think you just randomly type out sentences without even thinking

You didn't actually say anything in response to the fact that the PS3 is only barely performing as well worldwide as the PS2 did in the smallest of the three big region, and in the first six months was outperformed 2.5:1 in Japan by it's predecessor. I think we can stop with the "Sony always sells slowly" myth and hopefully as well the "PS3 is tracking like the PS2" myth.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I don't care what any of you say. You could say that the Xbox 360 could be better than the Playstation 3 in any department, except for one thing. Blu-Ray is far superior than HD-DVD. You will always get a finer picture with Blu-Ray, and that's a fact! By the way, since Sony wanted their Playstation 3 to be the best gaming console ever, why couldn't they have looked at the Xbox 360 specifications, and make sure that the Playstation 3 specifications were stronger in every single department?
