Forums - Gaming - Call of Duty: Black Ops III sold more on PS4 (GLOBAL - First Week)

Very close numbers. Clearly, fps fans favour the Xbox but I think the marketing deal helped Sony close the gap when compared to last year. Can't wait to see worldwide results.

Worldwide in America

I wouldn't even be surprised if it stays that way for the whole gen. Demographics and core audience and such.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

DLC deals, marketing, exclusive bundles, and userbase are some of reasons thats make me doubt the numbers.

Does that uncledu the bundles ?

DLC Deals?? Only really matters to hardcode COD players, most of which probably already have X1's for the first 2 CODS. A lot of Pros and core players probably bought the game on both consoles (the COD bump for PS4 came during the beta).

Marketing?? Again, most COD players already have next gen systems. This might give the PS4 a bump during the Black Friday through Christmas period for parents buying systems, but not before. Bundle? The AW bundle didn't sell much and COD bundles aren't big sellers. Again, this might see a small bump in the coming month though.

Userbase. X1 and PS4 are about 1 million apart, not that big of a difference. What should actually make you doubt the numbers is that digital is taking over and both NPD and VGC are irrelevant for accurate game sales at this point.

In US, it was about to happen but WW, ps4 is the clear winner unlike last gen.

looks like all those advertisements and what not for ps4 didnt exactly payoff. Well first week anyways

Depends, according to VGC the difference is 30k instead of 300k for the US. Would be interesting to see how it did outside the US as the marketing deal was WW.

that shouldn't be a question, just in Japan alone the ps4 version did 145k whereas xb1 version did around 3k.

Exclusive marketing on a game like this is kinda dumb anyhow. Does anyone think that the ads made people think it's for the ps4 only or something? No. EVERYONE knew it's out on all systems, so in a sense, the exclusive marketing did nothing but save money for the publisher, because even if the commercials showed only ps4, everyone knew it was also on x1. Win win for Activision.

This is exactly why I said "exclusive ad rights" for COD is silly.
