Forums - Gaming - "Telegram" App recommended secure communication tool of ISIL, not PS4.

FYI. Abdelhamid Abaaoud confirmed dead.

A few days ago I started a thread here to discuss an article by Paul Tassi at Forbes, it erroneously reported that PS4 was a  device known to be used by ISIL to communicate terror plots etc. In my opinion the article deserved to be retracted but was instead updated with a small disclaimer but only after it had gone on to media outlets worldwide.

It should come as no surprise to those familiar to methods of commuication and their suitability for specific purposes that consoles in all likelihood are not being used by terrorists for communication purposes. They need to be stationary and connected to an output device to even use. It is clear that due to the need to be highly mobile and devices needing to be disposable, that cheap smartphones are the most likely piece of equipment to be used.

There are literally countless messaging apps that can be used to communicate securely , how do intelligence services know which service to monitor?

Who knows what damage this has done to console gaming in a wider context....

What are your thoughts?

This might lead to non-NSA spyware certified messaging tools becoming illegal or commercially inviable(more than they already are).

In further news:

The paris attackers did NOT even use encrypted/secure communication - they used plain, unencrypted SMS to communicate:

After Endless Demonization Of Encryption, Police Find Paris Attackers Coordinated Via Unencrypted SMS

So whenever some fascist surveillance state advocate claims that terrorist attacks like Paris could have been avoided if it wasn't for all that evil encrypted communication that NSA & Co. hate so much: Just laught at him or give him a slap in the face.

Have you ever seen a webcam light turn on randomly?!

Sony should sue them for free lifetime advertisement in their magazine and website lol.

I don't think it did a damn thing to hurt consoles reception and sales, or mindset amongst the average. The only people that would try to make any big deal out of this would be people who are anti-game advocats, and they are a laughing stock regardless.

Just an American propaganda.

Other articles stated that there was evidence that the terrorist used cellphones yet no word on cellphone manufacturer. Actually countless terrorist attacks have used cellphones yet no manufacturer was ever mentioned.

...But if its the PS4 then they have to report that! Hoping to slow down their sales for the upcoming holiday lol xD
