EA Doesn't Want to "Nickel and Dime" Players With Microtransactions

by Eddie Makuch on November 17, 2015

"I do think there's a bit of consumer fatigue around feeling like they're getting nickle and dimed all the time. And a lot of mobile games don't allow you to have fun unless you've paid for it," he said. "So we're looking at new models of ways to try to alleviate some of that fatigue that's going on. Some of those might come in the form of subscription-style, but some of them might simply come in different ways to play games over time so you don't feel like you're always getting nickel and dimed." - EA CFO Blake Jorgensen

They don't want to, they NEED to. They have responsibilities.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I opened the thread because I was certain that the title is wrong...EA tired of microtransactions? They are kings of microtransactions...

says EA, the company that already was trying to charge like 50+$ a few weeks ago for DLC for Battlefront with ZERO INFORMATION ON WHAT WOULD BE INCLUDED

they're deluded. granted most public relation's sides of companies are

Why nickle and dime people when you can $5 and $10 them?

I complain about microtransactions, but as an EA stock owner, I'm happy that their stocks are performing very well in the last couple of years.  Despite the BF4 and Hardline fiasco, people have almost doubled their money in the last year with EA.

I'm not sure how they are making money but they are.  FIFA is still a successful franchise.  People can whine about being "nickle and dimed" by the video game industry, but video gamers, by definition, have no willpower and will buy anything.  Video games also by definition is not life necessity, but people will still pre-order games before investing wisely or even paying bills.

I'm fine with EA microtransactions or season passes.  Come to the darkside.
