Forums - Nintendo - My thoughts on "Star Fox Zero's graphics look bad"

Okay, let's be honest for a moment.

I read that this game uses a shoulder button to fire lasers. At that point not even the best graphics and sound in the world could save this game from disaster.

I feel like that would have been fine if the right analog was actually being used to fine tune aiming or something, instead of what it's actually being used for.

Boost, I guess? And gyroscope for aiming? I haven't seen any actual gameplay, but if that's the case, it works for me.

The problem isn't so much gfx alone but the whole game feels dated (i.e. N64 game 2.0 on rails).

I see you points but it still looks so dated compared to many many MANY others games. The gameplay may be spot on but it's on rail (correct me if wrong) so it can't be that hard to pull off or impressive. I'm not sure what this game (this one specifically, not the franchise itself) has going for it honestly, besides brand name.

Yes, because it's a rail shooter, therefore it's a bad game stuck in the past and has no purpose, since absolutely no one can have fun with that type of game if not for nostalgia. I think the only way to make Star Fox really good today would be to make it a MMO open-world.

That or in the same vein as Freelancer a space simulator but add on a more in depth story. Then add online mutiplayer.

But that's what fans wanted.

All atempts to make the game something different have fallen flat. Better to make something that people enjoy playing than a looker no one cares about.

Reading this hurts.

how so, you gert a variety of missions and I am not gonna write out an in depth description level by level and how some modern game elements could benefit star fox.

my problem is that it looks so impressive graphically compared to even OTHER Wii U games. I mean look at Bayonetta 2 for gods sake compared to this, like that game looks gorgeous and this game looks? ehh.

and this is coming from a major Starfox fan

it's not all about graphics. and granted a game like Bayonetta 2 has a totally different art style, but what crosses my mind is that that game is similar to Star Fox in the sense of it follows a linear 'rail' like path where you're killing enemies/bosses. there's no excuse for why Starfox looks so mediocre

it makes you wonder if Nintendo's in house teams are all aware that players do expect improvements over previous generations. currently the Star Fox game does not look that far away from something you would have expected on the Wii (original). just saying

in the end gameplay is king but let's not pretend Starfox Zero's graphics are pretty. they're okay-so-so

Star Fox is a shooter series, there's no real need to overcomplicate it (imo as a fan). But because of its relative simplicity I definitely think they need to push the graphics when possible, keep the controls comfortable and classic (no motion control bullshit!), and keep up the tradition of Star Fox games where the path to the end of the battle / solar system is somewhat up to your actions and choice (in terms of navigating from planet to planet)

in the end a series like this just needs creativity in terms of enemies and visuals. Its like the wheel, it works so we don't need to improve it fundamentally, just possibly get some nice tires and paint (or whatever). my point being that if the newer Starfox games are similar to old with little graphical or visual improvements then what exactly IS being improved?

watching the few videos of Star Fox Zero I guess such strong reminders of Star Fox 64- it's like they've taken part of that game. again, recycling can be cool SOMETIMES but not if it stifles creativity and new experiences. SF 64 is one of my favorite games but I want new things! new enemies, new types of planets, NEW VISUALS (thats where improved graphics would help and where it becomes more important)

People are barely gonna use the gamepad, they should just give up on that thing and focus all energy on the main screen

Agreed. It doesn't work like the DS/3DS where the two screens are easily in the same field of view. Looking back and forth between the two screens is tedious and not intuitive at all.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

The game still looks very ugly in my opinion(other than dat ocean). Even with its recent update. Those grass textures were still horrible even in that CGI trailer they gave us.

But if people keep wanting to make excuses for it, what ever. I'd rather hear one about why there's no online multiplayer.

And why exactly for Star Fox is must have to have online multiplayer!? It certainly would be nice addon, but it's not like "I just can't imagine Star Fox game without online multiplayer".

Because its something that every other game has now adays and its something that should be expected from Nintendo. there is no reason why a game made about flying around shooting air ships should not have a huge dog fight mode. There is ZERO excuse other than lazyness and a quick cash grab. Not to mention they are going to sell this for $60.

Its not a nice addon, a standard fans need to hold Nintendo too.

I dont see that Batman, Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 have any online multiplayer!?

I think that its get usual than some people complaining about why every Nintendo game doesn't have online multiplayer while there so much other games on market that also does not have have online multiplayer.

And I pre ordered game for less than 40 euros.

Like I wrote, it certainly would be nice addon, but also certainly isn't must have thing.
