I figured owning both would come to certain games just particularly being a better fit to a console or a handheld, such as Smash Bros on the console, and Pokemon on handheld.

I think that idea will be comepletely eliminated with the NX. Everything will be on everything, with specific features and content being locked to one version depending on the nature of the platform ala local trading on the handheld for Pokemon or Local single screen matched for Smash.

we have no idea the specs or operations of this system so that is crazy to start predicting. no idea the integration of handheld/home systems, no idea what kind of library it will have, if it will be backward compatible with any other systems, etc. etc. etc.

just stupid to make claims or guesses now

If it's going to be worse that amiibo, that doesn't sound like a very good future with Ninten...? How is this a good thing?

It's a good thing because people like buying amiibo. It's good for people who like amiibo and bad for those who don't. The shared software will be the same. It will have content walled off to people who don't own the other. Good for people who own both - bad for people who own one. It's a great thing for Nintendo because there's no negative impact on their end, just like with Amiibo.

I don't imagine Nintendo will make exclusive things depending on the console you get. I figure it will just be that some software is preferable on one console over the other, or you just want to continue playing the game on the go...?

They already are doing it now with Smash and Hyrule Warriors. You really think that's just a coincidence? Those are the blueprints for all NX games to come.

Well, Sakurai wanted to do both a 3DS version and Wii U version, but HW confuses me. I'm not sure if I'm liking this, but if it means I don't have to worry about getting 2 versions to get content I want, then fine, I'll take it.... -_-;;;

I don't think it's as simple as Sakurai wanting to do two versions. Nintendo wanted to do two versions, and the way they handled that is very telling of how they will handle games like these in the future. If you own only one platform, you get 90%-95% of the whole experience. If you own both, you automatically get 100%, with no added cost. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if there was an additional benifit to owning both. Smash did it with Mewtwo, and HW is doing it by tranferring those exclusive characters to the Wii U version.

Hmm, you do raise a good point there with Mewtwo. I just hope they don't end up doing that. Sounds like a dirty way to get people to buy their products.... : X

I don't think there would be any point to a unified platform from their point of view without doing that. They're giving out software for free basically without any benefit from double sales otherwise. There is literally no doubt in my mind that's what they're doing. Smash and HW were just testing the waters, much like Rusty's did with mobile.

I also don't think it's that dirty. Ideally, the hardware will be desirable on the hardware side for both. This just gives each game a software benefit as well.

Nah, you're right. It's pretty dirty. But compared to Amiibo, it's the virgin Mary.

It's actually exactly like Amiibo. Except you only need one Amiibo to work across every game. And it unlocks all of the content, not just specific to that specific Amiibo. And it's $200+. And it's a fully functioning hardware device that you can play all the games you bought for the first device without needing to buy them again or start a new save.

So actually, it's not exactly like Amiibo at all.

Who the hell wants to pay 300 dollars for a Nintendo System? It didn't work out for the Wii U very well. People already got an xbox one/ps4 and I guarantee you most of those people don't want a Nintendo system. I guarantee PS4 owners want xbox one and vise versa over a Nintendo System.

Haha, at this point, I'm not sure if it's like amiibo or not. Though, with the Mewtwo thing, thinking on it, it doesn't seem bad. It's free to people who happened to have both version of the game, and for the rest of the audience, it's dlc, which is standard for post release content. No one is really getting cheated.

Having the full content availble only if you own both devices would be wrong, though it could be negated for people who wanted them both anyways. It's a grey area that falls more the bad side. I just hope they have the full content from the start and not require hoops to get everything, or just offer it as dlc if you only own one of the two...
