Agree. The characters have so much potnetial to be the next mario franchise, instead Nintendo is catering to 30+ yr old NIntendo fans instead of trying to grow the franchise for a new generation of gamer who expect more than we see in this game.

They can change it like ratchet and clank. Last Rare game in GC tried that approach. So much wasted opportunity.

They can destroy it you meant, because Star Fox adventures was little more than a Zelda wannabe and has absolutely nothing to do with Star Fox, but hey, it was shit but had nice graphics and looked ambitious so I guess it fits with most of the things that are succesfull in gaming today.

Thats called risk. Remember Metroid was a side scroller. Look at 3D metroid. Thing is, Nintendo is not willing to take the risk. Nintendo wants to play safe.

Nintendo took risks with Starfox Adventures, it failed. They took risks with Starfox Assault, it failed. They took risks with Starfox Command, it didn't totally failed but it was meh.

I think it's enough risks and Starfox fans deserve at least one good game, even if it's a classic one.

Basically, fans wanted classic Star Fox game and they will get that with this game, there is no real need for further experiments with Star Fox in this point.

They were half asses risks though, more like lets try to experiment without giving it a nice variety and final polish over or a great story to go with it.  Don't forget Star Fox Adventures didn't statr of as Star Fox Adventures. It was reskinned (i.e. a last minute brain fart idea) with a few touch ups.

Metroid was a real risk as it had more depth, effort and polish to it and it paid off.

Reinvention for the sake of reinvention is what killed the Starfox series in the first place.
It's an arcade shooter and that is what it should remain. Every time they stray from that, the results are disastrous.

Metroid is first 3D Metroid game, so it's naturally evolving of series not real risk, at least not greater risk than any other 3D Nintendo game.
