What will NX be?

9th generation console 39 42.39%

8th gen if it releases in 2016 14 15.22%

9th gen, unless it isn't... 9 9.78%

8th generation, unless it... 13 14.13%

We need a new term, like ... 7 7.61%

I don't care, I just ent... 10 10.87%

Total:92

The New 3DS is the same gen as the old 3DS, even though it has 2x the CPU power, and even though it can play New 3DS only games.

Using that same logic, the NX is the same gen as the WiiU.

Well, It does for Nintendo's image. Which proven, screws you, if left unchecked.

Most realistic answer would be 8.5th gen. :)

Perhaps, that also depends on the audience though. Mass market customers who buy smartphones don't know much about the hardware or the actual new features and possibilities with each iteration of phones, they see the name and design and a few cool features and then make an investment.

I guess it depends who they're aiming at; people like us think a bit differently (and a bit more) about these things.

Not all the time. Nintendo is a fine example, of keep doing things different. For the sake of being different. Doesn't work every time. Even if logically, being the same would screw up big too. Nintendo has failed to find a balance. And their image is constantly messed up.

Look at it this way. Why did Nintendo's kiddy image start in the first place. People don't just say "they're kiddy". Things over the years made people think that way. Just like why no one properly buys 3rd party games on Nintendo. This evolved over the past 3 generations of mistakes Nintendo did.

If these decisions didn't screw up. People would have no issue buying GTA V, and Pikmin 3 on the same system. That never matters with Sony. People buy MGS 4. And people buy Little Big Planet 1 and 2 on PS3.

If it plays the same 3rd party games as the PS4 and XBO, that makes it 8th gen and late to the party.

^ this is the key.
If it gets big multiplats now again, back to nintendo and its the same games as the xb1 and ps4, that ll make the NX a 8th gen console.

Definitely 8th generation.
When NX will release, PS4 and Xbox One will be during the middle of their lifetimes.
Just because Nintendo failed to bring a decent console this generation they are not allowed to affect PS4 and Xbox One this generation. They can get a second try this generation with NX but they shouldn't ruin the momentum of the 8th generation imo.

It won't launch in 2016, I think. They'd be rushing it out the door and possibly setting themselves up for another Wii U drought situation, where they don't have a STEADY release lineup. That's what they need, and where they failed with Wii U.

And regardless, yes, it will be a 9th gen system, because Wii U is an 8th gen system. Dreamcast was a 6th gen console, it was the weakest of it's gen, but it was also released before any of the competition.

Of course it will be 9th gen. It doesn't matter what hardware it got under the hood.

Mattels Hyperscan is 7th gen despite its heavily outdated hardware.

And the Ouya is 8th gen.

Now that we have cleared up this little issue. How is the weather at your place?

I'm really having a hard time understanding how ur response is in any way linked to what Mummel said.
