Forums - Nintendo - Yo-kai Watch was already released in the US!(Prediction: Sales will not be good)

Never expected this game to light up that much, but maybe give it some time, and the numbers will start to rise.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Around the Network

Certainly a soft debut, but I think that's somewhat to be expected.

Even while launching in the holiday season, this very well could be Tomodachi Life type situation where an offbeat Japanese title ends up legging out quite well.

Also don't forget this game is getting bundled with the 2DS for $100 each.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

My guess is where they are marketing this most folks of our age (18-35) demographic would not be exposed.

The game already released? o.O

Pokemon didn't start off in the west lighting the charts. It was kind of a sleeping giant that built up mad momentum. It's too early to call with yokai watch how well it will do - especially since, as you pointed out, Nintendo hasn't even begun their full marketing campaign

Pretty sure selling 30 million for your first games isn't anything small.

I was speaking quite literally - as in, the first Pokemon games took time to sell what they did and at first they came out unknown to most Americans.  Word of mouth spread and it became the behemoth that it is - what I'm saying is that give Yokai a few months to do the same, then we'll have a real idea of what to expect.  For instance, after Christmas the bulk of the first wave of the game will have been purchased.  After that, all the little kids will, if they like it enough, start encouraging their friends to buy it and that could reignite a second wave of sales.
