Forums - Microsoft - xone removes gesture menu navigation

Is it a sign that they gave up the strategy again?

Like no reselling or always on bullshit?

New Xbox One Update Removes Kinect Gesture Support for Dashboard Navigation

As long as they don't remove voice commands, it's fine by me.

Better yet, you will get Cortana next year.

Considering the vast majority of Xb one's in homes don't have a Kinect connected to it, it seems like a waste of virtual space to have it as a standard feature of the OS. Whether they need that space to do other things I have no clue, but if they can they should make gesture controls a downloadable add on for the people who do have Kinect and who like to use gesture control for the dashboard. I assume voice control will still work and remans part of the OS?

I don't get it. Why just remove working features just because they're only used by a minority? I assume there is a deeper and probably more sinister reason behind this.

Did anyone even use it? Voice commands is all I've ever used. If it goes towards a faster UI and more useful features, I'm good.
