Forums - Gaming - Are PC Multiplats are already Nextgen compared to console versions??

If you're going just by visuals then no, if you look at PC on highest settings running on a gpu $150 more expensive than an actual console vs console settings you do not see hundreds of dollars worth of difference it's all resolution and framerate mostly.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

No. If this game looked like PC last gen, every PS4/XBO game would be running at 60fps and would be less visually impressive because devs would have their priorities in check. Same here. Next gen (there won't be one, but for arguments sake) will just have even better looking games that still run like shit because they're trying to keep up with the PCs of 2020.

In resolution and framerate, PC is next-gen for nearly everything - but the overall scope and other aspects of the game are pretty much the same as consoles.

For a PC game to be truly and completely 'next-gen', it would have to be significantly different and better than console version in many ways (Project Cars) or would be impossible to really do on consoles (Star Citizen).

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

well "depend on the PC configuration ", and also it need games or developer who insanely want to develop games for :high end configuration" and also it need budget or else maybe most of them will follow the same path with " Crytech " Lol

No not at all. Its actually the other way around imo, the PS4 exclsuives look the most next gen to me. Games like Bloodborne, driveclub, knack, Second Son, the order 1886, Killzone look like a generation above in comperaison to the multiplat on all systems when it comes to pure visuals

No.

When people say PCs they seem to forget that majority of the PCs out there can't even run games at the current settings of a PS4. And they make it sound like its the norm for majority of PCs to have GPUs that cist more than a PS4 alone.

If you look at true current gen games and not cross gen games; you will clearly see all the little things that make up a generational leap. Especially when both games are running on a 1080p TV. Bow take a $4000 PC. and run whatever game u want at 1080p and 200fps. You will NOT see as big a difference between it and a PS4 running the same game on a 1080p TV. At least not one that justifies the difference in cost.

IMO, if you really want to compare a pc with a console. Then always compare what kinda PC you can get for the cost of whatever console its being compared to. Right now you can get a PS4 for $350 and in some places $300.So let's talk about $300 PCs. Cause that's how anyone would look at it that has $300 to spend on a gaming platform.

I know you're just giving an example, but... How would you even build a $4000 PC? Like, what would be in it? Whatever's in there, you'd probably need a 4k TV to really make use of it. Make sure its 120, too.

OT: I would say no. While there are some games on PC that could reasonably be considered "next-gen," *coughstarcitizencough* by the large PC games(running on $500-1000 systems) are just marginally prettier than console games, with much higher frame rates. It's better, but not "next gen" better, IMO.

The majority of consoles out there also can't run games at the current settings of a PS4. ;)

Going by the Steam statistics there should be around 25 - 30 million gaming PCs (with graphic cards like GTX 670 + 760 + Radeon HD 7900-series + R9-series) which can run games at the current settings of a PS4, so it's in the same ballpark as the sold PS4 units.

Ryse on PC looks better than any of the games you just mentioned, except for maybe The Order. Actually, I'd even say that Arkham Knight on PS4 is damn close to all of those titles as well.

As far as current gen consoles go, the majority if those happen to be a ps4. And as for PCs? 25-30M. sounds comparable to the PS4 no doubt. But if you want to put that number into perspective, that's 25-30M of how many million PCs?

Believe me, you can make a $4000 PC. Throw in 2-3 of certain $1000 GPUs,  a certain type of CPU, the right amount of high end ram, sad, water cooling and a pcu to handle all that. And you will be hitting $4000 in no time.
