My judge is based on things we have. About Zelda U my judge is based on all Nintendo said about that game (plans and development), and based on things they showed.

| etking said: All current Japan version reviews suggest that Xenoblade X is a very good game but Xenoblade Chronicles Wii is better. Most critics do not like that the story is only 12 missions long and gets interrupted with mandatory boring side quest missions all the time which are up to 6 hours long. The game is not focused on the story as much as the original Xenoblade which is not a good thing. Regarding Zelda, the art style is childish and resembles Wind Waker which I could not play for that reason. I would love to see something more realistic and the gameplay should evolve into the direction of Dark Souls a bit. |
I have bad news to you. Aonuma, the guy in charge, has an insane obssession with cartony graphics. Maybe if the executives demands a realistic game we will get. Otherwise, not, unfortunately.

A LOT of people are jumping to REALLY far conclusions when talking about what Nintendo has "said about the game".

Of Course when they talking about development of that game, what they are doing and what they will do, that people will expect that. Also that two videos they showed agrees with what they are talked about game.

Well, if you only talk about what has been shown in the video, great.

It's a Zelda game.
Simple. They're reshaping how a Zelda game plays to be huge, non linear, open world rather than simply being a refinement or the predecessor with some extra features.
XCX devs had a good idea how their game would turn out before they started simply because they didn't set out to radically reinventing what they did before. Zelda U is a risk as they're taking the series into new territory.

Well they show us only little part of game, but that showed us is part of their plans they talked about, so I dont have any reason to doubt about any other things they said about game. From new Zelda after Skyward Sword I wanted big and beautiful world, and that's what I am getting with Zelda U.

I would say having a huge, non linear, open world has already been done before in Legend of Zelda (Legend Of Zelda, Adventures Of Link, and A Link To The Past, A Link Between Worlds, ). Zelda U looks to simply be a refinement of these with some extra features (slow motion mechanic).
The games became more linear as time went on to construct a story, which I think Zelda U is going to lack greatly. I wonder how many people will start to miss the linear formula when Zelda U comes out...

Is Xenoblade X not going to deliver a big and beautiful world? It is also going for a non linear approach for the first time EVER.
