Nintendo is not at full potential. And even earlier. Fzero made by sega. Bayonetta made by sega (platinum). Lost world made by sega. Sonic boom unfortunately sega's.
Nin didnt do a whole lot. Just a summary
Splatoon
Mario 3d world (3d platform)
Yoshi wooli''''' (platform)
Mario maker(platform)
Donkey kong(platform)
Kirby. (Platform)

Platform back 2 back and dont get me wrong there are some good ones. But the genre variaty in nintendo is very thin

Mario kart 8
Smash bros

Thesr 2 are good. But its not for everyone.

Hyrule warriors. Massively bought massively sold. Just look at used games. I doubt many will buy part 2

What about

Pikmin 3 (RTS)

Xenoblade X (JRPG)

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (JRPG)

Star Fox (arcade shooter)

Legend Of Zelda (adventure)

Mario Tennis Ultra Smash (sports)

Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (sports)

and I'm sure others I'm not thinking of.

And though not developed by Nintendo ARE Nintendo IP.

Fatal Frame (Survival Horror)

Wonderful 101 (hack and slash)

*Edit* There was a genre I was comppetely forgetting:

Mario Party (party game)

Animal Crossing Ammibo Festival (party game)

Also, Mario Maker (though it is a platformer) could be technologically considered a "creator".

Captain Toad is really amazing. The same goes for Wooly World, Mario Maker and Mario Kart

But none of them are "epic".

Mario 3D World isn't a good/real Mario game/3D game, amirite guys????

Ironically it's the most I had fun with of all mario games thanks to wonderful multi-player with my bro and sis

me too haha. I was just quoting what I see people saying all the time. I had a great time with 3D World, in single player, and especially in multiplayer. Sure, i don't think it is as innovative or grand as the galaxies, but I like it so much better than 64 or Sunshine. A great game.

What is epic in this gen? It is really unfair asking epic games just for one company, which have to work with 2 consoles all by themselves

Not a right lot, but epic is what used to be Nintendo's bread and butter. It's not really unfair. We're comparing Nintendo to Nintendo.

nintendo games are still awesome to me, so no complaints here, doesnt need to be ''dark and mature'' for it to be great

The amount of love I've lost for Nintendo makes me sad. I was once such a major Nintendo fanboy that it's the only console I'd own. To this day I hate PS1 because of how much I loved N64. But today's Nintendo is nothing compared to 1990s Nintendo or even early 2000s Nintendo. It seems that as soon as Nintendo moved into the "3D" world the appeal and promise vanished. I bought a WiiU for my son and none of the game I play are fun. Mario Kart 8 feels like a shell of itself compared to Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64. The only Nintendogames I've played for WiiU so far that I actually really enjoy is New Super Mario Bros. and I've had that game since its release on NDS. Nintendo has lost nostalgic appeal and can't keep up with the others when it comes to current appeal.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

I think Nintendo still makes a lot of good games, even for the Wii U and 3DS.. of course, they are not selling like the Wii predecessors, but I still find them fun..

They didn't develop metroid prime, retro did lol

Nintendo been doing the same thing for generations.

Retro is Nintendo, at this point no doubt a number of primary Nintendo software developers have been integrated into that unit

Retro did the last few Donkey Kong games... they are as "Nintendo" as you can get

in terms of serious games- I think Bayonetta falls in that category, even if Nintendo just funded it. while it's true there have not been a plethora of intense adventure games for the Wii U, I think it would be fair to give Nintendo a littleeee room here. generally in their history they have done a good job at maintaing relative balance by releasing more adult friendly adventure games

it would appear you (the OP) are extremely fond of the Zelda and Metroid series in the more serious tone (as am I) so I understand your frustration since both have been absent this generation

that said, Xenoblade is coming out and obviously that is not really a child-friendly games in terms of difficulty. I do find frustration in Nintendo for the massive Zelda delay, especially when it's been hyped up for so long, and the quiet hush hush on any Metroid Projects.

you will likely find a lot more solace with the late Wii U library or that of the NX, but it would seem that Nintendo has been holding back their more serious projects

Nah what upsets me is Retro has the potential to create NEW IPs but Nintendo play it too safe with them and instead they end up making DK. Nothing wrong with that but I would love to see retro expand to say two to three dev teams,  Two working on known Nintendo IP and one focusing on developing new IP.

They have enough talent there to help train up a new generation of developer. Mentor the young ones in your ways and then you will have this awesome dev with multip teams. Naughty Dog is a good example of how they gotten better and better because Sony let them go all out.

Saying all this I probably wouldn't feel this way if Nintendo purchased out RARE back in the day. So many great IPs lost that were kind of killed of by MIcrosoft an dnow as a last hope to regain some NIntnedo gamers onto xbox they starting to release a few of them lol.  If NIntendo owned these form the start you would think there be a killer instinct every gen, same with a perfect dark and these franchises could have growth to be big flagship exclusives that sold the console and fill some gaps Nintendo systems miss. DOn't forget there was Banjo and Conker and plenty of other smaller IPs that coudl be used to fill gaps here and there.

I know. I don't know where they are. It seems like they go for the less ambitious route most of the time this gen. Early 3DS still had it though. On WiiU, of what's released, it seems of the big franchises only Mario Kart 8 exceeds it's predecessors in scale and grandeur.

NSMBU best NSMB game, Pikmin 3 best Pikmin game, DKTF best Donkey Kong game, Mario Kart 8 best Mario Kart game, Smash Bros best Smash Bros game, Yoshi Wolly World best Yoshi game after first Yoshi game, Zelda U looks like will be one of the best Zelda games ever.

Don't kid yourself. It's not exactly about whether or not certain games are 'good' or 'enjoyable', that's irrelevant to the greater scheme. It's about progression, evolution, advancement. Past Nintendo games, up until early 3DS, had an ambition, a sense of wanting to be more, to help further develop the gaming industry as a whole with fresh ideas. This was a part of what made the games great, made them classics, what made minds of people wander and metaphorically had everyone look at the stars. Seriously, put all games in a series in a graph, consider those key words and say the line didn't flatline for most series with WiiU. That's where the disappointment lies, that's the source of the lukewarm perception of the system and by extention it's low sales. Don't know if there's a saying like this in English, most likely there is, but here we'd say something like "to stand still is to go backwards".
