Alright I been playing with Little Mac on Super Smash Bros alot lately got kinda obsessed with him. Everything about the dude is awesome! So I looked at his games on Youtube.... and wow they don't look fun at all. We ALL thought about Nintendo making a Fighting game to compete with other Fighting games such  as Tekken, MK and SF. This year Nintendo finally decided to make a shooting IP (Splatoon) and IT WAS A SUCCESS! It supprassed their expectations of the sales. I believe Nintendo can do the same thing with A 2D Fighting game genre. The fighting games are red hot right now, with Mortal Kombat X, and the releases of new Tekken and new Street Fighter games. People today already consider Super Smash Bros a fighting game but it's not like other fighting games.  This is a chance for Nintendo to gain a new fanbase from fighting players, a chance to reboot a forgotten Franchice and a great chance to MAKE MONEY.  I'm sure they can pull strings to pull this off.

Why do they need a fighting game to compete with tekken and street fighter though? If anything they need a huge FPS to compete with Halo. I remember the glory days when Nintendo were kings of Console shooters.

Well, unlike the shooter example you mentioned (splatoon), fighting is a genre decreasing in popularity. Also, they already have Smash and now Pokkén... there's no need for another fighter, I believe.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Don't know if Punch Out can compete with those games. I mean it's simple to play and doesn't leave much room for strategy so that basically ruins its chances of becoming part of stuff like EVO. And it's a pretty small series so I doubt Nintendo would gain much from making a new one sadly.

realy? Nintendo already have Smash and Pokken torment is coming, they are fine.

disagree whole heartedly

release a new redesigned boxing game based on Punch Out or continuing the series? very cool idea. translating it to a fighting game with like move sets and Street Figher-esque style? no way

if they want to compete in the adult fighting category outside of Smash then create a new IP, don't ruin a boxing IP

I find the example you used interesting. You said that they should make Punch Out a fighter to compete with Tekken, etc., that Smash is too different, and that Splatoon is an example of good competition. The thing of it is though, isn't Splatoon completely different then, well, every other shooter? Wouldn't Splatoon fit in with Smash as "too different"? (This is by your logic, I find Smash to be perfectly fine as Nintendo's fighter)

Honestly I feel like with Punch-Out!! they could keep going on their "alternative-popular genres" series of games, making it a fighting game but instead of having side combat they could do front combat, other than Punch-Out!! Wii I can't really think of any game that plays like this...

Punch-Out just needs to be Punch-Out, it doesn't need to emulate other fighting franchises

Tekken and Street Fighter will make their glorious comeback to Nintendo in some way someday.

If anything, Nintendo needs Fire Emblem vs Soul Calibur spinoff.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Why don't they simply make a One Punch Man game, the manga was a hit and the anime is really making it big in terms of popularity. Really Nintendo just needs to make a deal with the creator and Platinum and then they've got a hit on their hands.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
