Others have said that this is softward only, which stands to reason: MS manufactures and sells the hardware and the software; Activision Blizzard only manufactures and sells the software.

Also i did some math and if halo 5 bundles sold atleast 200k thats 100m and if controllers sold 100k thats 5 m 400m-105m is 295m and thats less than destiny 325m software. Now destiny sold 4 million fw acording to vgchartz. Now that puts halo

If you caught my link to the article, VGC had Destiny as 2.43 million FW (US), so that would put Halo 5 around 2.3 million FW (US). I think 100-150 consoles sold is a more reasonable number, though. To me, 200K just sounds like a lot of special bundles to move (The preoders could make me very, very wrong lol.).

A further note : A surprise (not surprising?) $349 X1 promotion through the new year with free Halo 5 could HUGELY boost the LTDs.

As in : buy any X1, get Halo 5 digital code free through Jan 1st.

Could u give a link for that. And while that would definitely help its digital sales it would also help kill its physical sales and thus be seen as more of a failure.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

I'd honestly be fine with 1.5 million npd which would put worldwide with digital around 2.5-2.8 million.

I've been saying that digital would be a ton of sales. It's growing and especially with big high profile games.

So how are you using a data basely only on software and it's game sales estimates made by this site to make a game sales estimate in proportion with a data based on hardware + software?

If Destiny numbers are software only, there is simple no constant to base a comparision into. That 1.23x you created using 400/325 to estipulate Halo sales would be 1.23x higher than Destiny makes no sense at all, when the two numbers you used into that division does not represent the same kind of data.

325M software revenue generating 2.43M sales does not link in any way with 400M hardware + software revenue to generate proportionally more than those 2.43M. You have to eliminate that hardware variable from there so you could have two similar equations (325Y = 2.43 =/= 325*1.23XY = 2.43X*1.23). See the problem? That X that stands for hardware revenue, while it's there you can't combine those two equations to use them together, you need to get rid of it (which will change the 325*1.23 proportion, making it go lower, can even go lower than 0 if software revenue alone doesn't account for a total of at least 325M) so you can work with your same variable Y of software revenue. With this kind of PR there is simply no way to even try to gauge Halo software sales. Which was very intentional.

I was only establishing a high water mark for the potential software sales.

This is the VGC article that cites 2.43 million copies in week 1:

http://www.vgchartz.com/article/251878/destiny-sells-24-million-units-first-week-in-us-ps4-and-xbox-one-sales-jump-more-than-200/

Note that these are US numbers, which are the most relavant to Halo 5.

Im speaking about WW.

The only article I found from VGC was for the US (67% of X1 Destiny sales LTD, for reference); where did you get 4 million from?

Guys you're confusing things with Destiny.

According to VGC it sold upwards of 5 million copies week one across all platforms, NOT including digital.

That brought them to $325 million in revenue (including digital).

Conservatively estimating that Destiny cleared 6 million first week including digital, and you can see that no matter the software/hardware split, Halo 5 sold gangbusters.

That sounds like a pretty reasonable range, from what information we do have.

I haven't seen any source for the 5 million mark; I have only been able to find the 2.43 million mark for the US W1, which is probably the only contextually relavant information. Bear in mind that ~66% of Destiny X1 sales LTD have been in the US, and reports are pinning UK W1 Halo 5 sales at around 150-200K (the strongest X1 EU territory).

funny thread. yes, srsly, i am amused. it symbolizes how everything in the xbox universe is revolving around this one franchise.
