Yup it will be really hard for MS to catch up with sony at this point. Also there's lots of Nintendo activity in the top 100.

240,00 Xbox with Gears seems like a good deal.

Especially when there's a ton of pre November pre orders and then losing the first 26 days heavily. And if the leaks are true they have no advantage black friday so might lose that too. If they lose November and black friday by a large margin. My question is, do they cut further in December to remain competitive? |
In theory a BF strategy could work to win you NPD. About 50% of hardware sales for November happens on BF week (according to VGC), and of course most of that is on BF weekend. If you can win BF by a big margin then you can completely overturn the sales difference that has built up in the earlier weeks of November. The question is whether MS has the line up and specials to do that. I'm not sure they do. Sony is in a financial position, and the cost of making and distribution PS4 is low enough that Sony can afford to be pretty generous this BF, which makes trying to get a BF win for Xb one by a substantial margin a challenge.
And with Halo 5 not quite achieving the level of sales MS was probably hoping for the game is probably less able to drive sales as a bundle offer than what an earlier iteration in the series might have. The game has received reasonable praise for many elements and the review socres have been good, but many reviewers and gamers have had similar complaints about its faults, and that will hurt Halo 5's long terms sales. When everyone complains about the same thing that puts people off because they will think those problems are real and substantial, when people generally have different complaints, that is less of a problem because you can put those complaints down to personal taste / preference, and they can't be all that bad because only some people are complaining. I'm sure MS had plans for Halo to be the centrepiece of its holiday strategy, and it's not looking as strong as what it needs to be to really bring the big sales for Xb one.

4 hours after last update:
#11 PS4 Star Wars Standard Bundle (up 1)
#14 PS4 Star Wars LE Bundle (down 1)
#17 PS4 Black Ops Bundle (up 1)
#21 PS4 Nathan Drake Bundle (down 1)
#41 XB1 Fallout Bundle (down 6)
#42 XB1 Gears Bundle (up 4)
#67 XB1 Madden Bundle (up 5)
PS4 - 4 bundles, 4 in the top 100
XB1 - 13 bundles, 3 in the top 100
XB1 Deals:
Gears Bundle + Black Ops 3
Madden Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
Halo Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
FIFA Bundle + Fallout 4
Three Game Bundle + Halo 5
LEGO Bundle + Minecraft Story Mode
Kinect Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
Fallout Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
PS4 Deals:
Nathan Drake Bundle + ACS + FF Type O
Nathan Drake Bundle + Black Ops 3
I don't think we can have a clearer indication of which console is the most popular in the US. We have all those XB1 bundles with a variety of deals and only four PS4 bundles (with two deals attached to one of them) and ALL of those bundles have been in or hovering around the top 20, while only three of the 13 XB1 bundles have made it into the top 100, the closest of which is 20 places below the lowest PS4 bundle. That's an emphatic statement of preference if I ever saw one, and also an indication of how Halo has completely lost its selling power.
With Halo losing it's draw, Forza almost irrelevant in terms of selling power, that only leaves Gears Of War, which I don't think is much of a system seller. Next year Sony have all the pulling power AND new IPs, while MS have very little pulling power AND new IPs, but as we've seen many times XB1 owners don't embrace diversity too well, or at least not as much as PS4 fans. Next year could be devistating for MS and next year Sony will also make sure they have titles for Christmas.
The PS5 Exists.
