One wonders with how much MS has to give away to be competitive if it wouldn't have been cheaper to do an official $50 price cut.

If they cut the price they cant afford to raise it anymore just like last year and you are basically telling people just wait for November December to buy Xbox One.

With all the 'best holiday line up ever' they have been pushing, it will not look too good to cut the price to push console with "the best holiday line up ever".

Black friday is almost 2 weeks away. If Microsoft are holding back until then they're fucked. 27 days of getting hammered will not be made up. Especially when there's a ton of pre November pre orders and then losing the first 26 days heavily.

And if the leaks are true they have no advantage black friday so might lose that too.

If they lose November and black friday by a large margin. My question is, do they cut further in December to remain competitive?

Or do they do something really stupid and cut the price 'for a limited time' and then see sales slump to an all time low next year? How desparate are they to keep good faith this Christmas?

That wouldn't work anywhere near as well though. The only reason the XB1 sold more last year was because people rushed out and bought thinking they wouldn't get another opportunity to buy it so cheap. Of course the ruse was exposed immediately when MS put the price straight back down again after it had gone back up, but of course they had to have a period of time when the console went back up because it would then have been even more obvious what they'd pulled.

There are things that Phil Spencer said back before Halo 5 came out that may not hold up now, like, wanting the Xbox division to remain profitable. Once H5 failed to boost the box significantly over their competitior in October, I'm entirely sure all bets were off. Just saying, wouldn't surprise me if MS responded to any sort of spike in sales and impulsively would try to maintain that using any means. Even if it is a horrible idea.

I think it's more likely that Halo 5 comes to the PC earlier than expected than for MS to forget about their profits mantra and throw money away.

I think they just need to make a standard halo bundle or cut the LE bundle.

Wow, was able to look up Walmarts best sellers list on my iPad. Walmart is even more ps4 domination than any place else! Walmart still doesnt accept game/console preorders I take it? That would be the only explanation as to why Star Wars bundles and games are nowhere to be seen on the list. Anyways, heres the link and the list:

http://www.walmart.com/browse/2636_1040579?sort=best_seller&cat_id=2636_1040579

#5 ps4 BO3
#6 ps4 BO3 plus madden
#15 ps4 Destiny
#28 ps4 NDC
#52 ps4 NDC plus madden

This can't be right. Bc of this crazy domination, I went for a search for an XBO on the list. The first XBO I found was the standalone XBO for $349 at #415! If anyone finds I missed some XBOs please let me know and I'll adjust accordingly. This would be insane if true, but I'm not sure I can believe it. Doesn't make sense.

I beleive this is the correct lnk.

http://www.walmart.com/browse/video-games/2636?cat_id=2636&facet=video_game_platform:PlayStation%204%7C%7Cvideo_game_platform:Xbox%20One

Usually, at least one Xbox One bundle stays ahead on walmart.com because they're always being sold with an extra goodie or two. Usually a free controller and a game. I sincerely believe this is how Xbox One tends to remain competitive most months because this is the best place to buy one, and we tend to overlook it.

Hmm...that seems at least more believable than the list I found, but that lost still doesn't seem right. I mean there are almost more consoles being sold than games in the top 40. No other site or store has had that many consoles selling over games.

#11 PS4 Star Wars Standard Bundle (same)
#12 PS4 Star Wars LE Bundle (up 1)
#18 PS4 Black Ops Bundle (down 1)
#20 PS4 Nathan Drake Bundle (same)
#34 XB1 Fallout Bundle (same)
#47 XB1 Gears Bundle (up 2)
#73 XB1 Madden Bundle (down 4)

PS4 - 4 bundles, 4 in the top 100
XB1 - 13 bundles, 3 in the top 100

XB1 Deals:

Gears Bundle + Black Ops 3
Madden Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
Halo Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
FIFA Bundle + Fallout 4
Three Game Bundle + Halo 5
LEGO Bundle + Minecraft Story Mode
Kinect Bundle + Free Game Of Choice
Fallout Bundle + Free Game Of Choice

PS4 Deals:

Nathan Drake Bundle + ACS + FF Type O
Nathan Drake Bundle + Black Ops 3

I've changed the PS4 bundles to what  they actually are. There have been only 4 bundles for a while now but because Sony have had 2 other deals related to the Nathan Drake Bundle, I've just added them as 2 extra bundles. I feel that now I also add the deals in you can see more clearly what is going on. I might change that later though because it's a pain in the ass trying to keep up with these ever changing deals.

So far those XB1 deals have had no effect whatsoever which means more consoles left over for Black Friday. Unless Sony have stepped up production dramatically then I can see MS winning Black Friday based on availablity alone. We could make a case that the PS4 will likely have consoles left over from the rather weak October results but I feel as if the PS4 bundles are selling so well, they're likely to exhaust that surplus before Black Friday. Will those possible extra XB1 consoles be enough to regain the lead Sony are clearly building during the month though? That is the question! Personally, I don't think so.

Looks like battlefront could be a little shaky for reviews. You think it will have a negative effect on sales or preorder cancellations?!
