Indeed, that's the flaw that always kept me away from it's predecessors.
It's so much more comfortable a world full of life ( yeah i know it's not supposed to be but still )

if the world was hit all over with likely hundreds of nuclear bombs it probably would look pretty dab, even 100s of years later
if anything (technically and realistically speaking) making the world insanely colorful is a 'flaw'
don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the colorful take on Fallout, it matches the over the top universe, but Fallout 3 arguably did the best job any game has ever done to make an immersive open world in an apocalyptic landscape
