Forums - Sony - I watched my first Blu ray Movie on 1080P TV

I use to have a 1080i big(CRT) TV and the blu ray looked same as dvd to me,,

But  last night I watched a blu ray on my new TV(Sony 46XBR4)and I gotta say woww,,,

I am actually impressed with the amount of details in the movie.(sometimes it is so real that you fell you are watching an HD documentary)Colours are also impressive.so vibrant.

I watched a movie called Brave one.It didn't have crazy visual effects but I easily could see the difference with the DVD.

All of my family enjoyed the quality, even my mom said wow and she's not into high tech stuff.

 My conclusion:

TV makes worlds of difference

Blu ray movie impressed me

Yeah there sure is a difference. Not many people will notice that it's so much of a difference unless you put them side by side. Although, I watch all my movies on projector so a tiny 50" plasma is too small for my liking... ;P

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!

All that expense to buy a 1080p HDTV to play a Blu-ray movie on a PS3, lets hope it meets your expectations. I think a movie ticket is looking a far better deal considering you will only see that film once.

i guess he'll watch more than one films

I like technology when its moving forward..

PSN: methys

1080i>1080p shouldn't be that much of a difference, far less than 480p>1080i, unless you had a superb upscaler.

lol,,I didn't buy a TV just to watch "a" movie on the PS3.

WE had our old CRT TV(32") for about 7 years and we just wanted to move to something bigger for watching generally(not just for movies on the blu ray player).

The difrerence between 1080i and 1080P are really obvious to me from my experience of having both TVs.

I'm guessing you have motion enhancer set to "standard" or "high" since you mentioned it felt like a documentary.
Some people actually like the 24fps judder for some reason.
My brother complains movies feel like a CGI movie with motion enhancer set to standard and he hates it, while my friends on the other hand loves the smooth effect.

what?? I don't know, but I think you're confusing me. 720p>1080i, 1080p>720p therefore 1080p>1080i; or so I heard. Care to explain.

I think he means from 1080i TO 1080p ,,,not 1080i is better than 1080P
