second party games are games that are made by devs not owned by Sony, but Sony owns the IP. like with Quantic Dream. if the publisher doesnt own the IP or the Dev its a third party exclusive.

First Party: Publisher owns the Dev and the IP (example, Naughty Dog and Uncharted)

Second Party: Publisher owns the IP, but Dev is independant. (example, insomniac and Ratchet and Clank, Quantic Dream and Detroit)

Third Party: Publisher doesnt own either the IP or the Dev. example (Capcom and Street Fighter. Epic Games and Gears of war before it was sold off).

It's not a 1st party game since it's not made by a 1st party studio. And it definitely shouldn't be called a 3rd party exclusive since it's published by Sony. So it's called a 2nd party game because it's not made by a Sony studio but it is being published by Sony.

You're missing 2 first party downloadable titles
KillStrain - Free to Play title by SCE San Diego
Hardware: Rivals - Internal team in SCE London

You're also missing a few 2nd Party Games Published by Sony.
Rime
Shadow of the Beast
Drawn to Death
Wattam
What Remains of Edith Finch
Hot Shot's Golf PS4
Guns Up!

It's also crazy how we have another Sony conference in just 1 month and we'll get even most 1st/2nd party titles.

damn, yeah i forgot about those. ill have to update.

Can't wait for Gravity Rush 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. There are so many great games over the horizon.

But that's what most consider 2nd party.

A company owns a game, so the IP is first party, but the game is not made by one of their studios, so the development is third party.
So that's considered second party.

Exactly. So the game isn't 2nd party (because there's no such thing as a second party game). It's first party. Insomniac could be considered a 2nd party dev, even though that term doesn't really exist officially, and is only really used on forums.

A first party title is a game made by a 1st party studio, how is that hard to understand?

Pikmin 4, Pokken Tournament, Genei Ibun Roku #FE, Zelda U, Yo-kai Watch (since you include games like No Man's Sky...), Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Fire Emblem: Fates, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox: Zero, whatever Retro Studios is working on, whatever the 3D Mario platformer team is working on, possibly Twilight Princess HD, etc.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it. Sony has basically announced most of their projects for the coming years while Nintendo is keeping their secrets close to heart because of the immenent NX announcement.

Microsoft has Quantum Break, Tomb Raider, Recore, Scalebound, Gears of War, Halo Wars 2 , Sea of Thieves and Crackdown.

Nin has released pretty much all of thier biggest exclusives(for the Wii U) already outside of Zelda. So of course they are keeping things close to heart for their new system. Especially considering teh sales of the Wii U. And almost all of the games in the OP are for NEXT year and there are a lot missing that are scheduled for next year. So I don't understand how they have announced most of their projects for the coming "years" when almost everything there is scheduled for next year.

I guess I don't get what people are missing saying they don't see it or see an insane amount because there truly are. Now will everyone like all those games probably not. Did anyone say anything about the competition not having anything...not at all. So I guess I don't see the point of bringing up what the competition has or saying you don't see the insane amount when it is clear lol. This is not directed at you personally that one part of your post just stood out that's all.

I don't disagree that we're seeing some nice shaping up
But to counter balance, some complainers

2nd party:
Where is Deep Down? MIA.

1st party:

I seriously hope Guerilla Cambridge isn't JUST making Rigs. They were hiring in 2014 for a "multi million IP" so maybe I don't have to worry, but we'll see.

Deep down isnt second party. Not only is it third party it's capcom. For all we know that game may never see the light of day. I don't even think capcom know what it is.

Just making RIGS? I don't think you realize how important VR is to Sony or can be. Especially if Sony can establish PlayStation as the primary VR platform. And from all indications, I'm gonna assume you must (like many) have never tried VR before.

But here's an if, what if PSVR goes onto to sell 10M units in its first year on the market and rigs becomes its killer app. Would u still consider it as a "just" endeavor then?

But Japan studios is working on it too.. It's not just a third party exclusive, it's between that and Bloodborne. But Capcom is publishing so I guess it's not 2nd party really. Regardless, Sony people are working on it, therefore it's relevant to the discussion

And yeah.."just". VR is DOA. Sony will abandon it almost as quickly as they abandoned the Vita (and other past endeavours).
