If there's one major problem with Naughty Dog, its that they didn't milk their past games enough:
-Crash Bandicoot
-Jak and Daxter
It's good that they're trying to approach uncharted a little differently. It'd be a shame to end the series on short notice

not milking something to death is part of what i love about sony.  yeah they have sequels and that's cool but most franchises end after 3-4 entries leaving the franchise on a high note and keeping the franchise in high regard.  i'd hate to see uncharted turn out like assassin's creed or where halo appears to be headed.

calvin and hobbes is the greatest comic ever and garfield now looks like a piece of shit.  sometimes you just gotta know when to quit while you're ahead.

Oh for sure! It's not a bad thing at all and we get the benefit of fresh IP throughout the gen.

Still, Jak 4 in 1080p

So many forums on the net are currently like:

Xb game 900p
PS: ha-ha underpowered
Xb: fps more important than res

PC: ha-ha I can play at 4k

PS game 900p
PS: fps more important than res
Xb: ha-ha not 1080pp

That is the worst exageration I have seen in a while.

One game at two different resolutions is difference than exclusive titles built only for one console. I really am against this post from a mod. It's like your asking for trolling.

Note: I normally think your a great mod, but this was dissapointing.

Wow. I never expected to see another sub-1080p PS4 game. And first party, no less! Good on Naughty Dog for prioritizing fps for their multiplayer. Even ignoring improvements in responsiveness, 60fps simply looks better than 30. Like, way better. Actually, I find 60fps to be one of the most drastic and welcomed visual improvements one can make to a game. On PC I find myself constantly lowering settings just to reach that  buttery smoothness. Definitely trumps resolution, even on a monitor.

Ah, it's not 1080p it's the End of the World Ahh!

Sure, it would be nice to have everything at 1080p60, but most people will see 900p60 as just about as good. I do think it's odd they dropped to 30 for the single player, but that makes others happy with 1080p. Just wonder how switching between the two will feel.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Too bad the consoles don't have DVI out. This would be perfect for this gen...

? Just use an HDMI->DVI adapter and the SPDIF for audio.

I wish they made the SP 60fps/900p.

Pc port of any multiplat.

Xb: better on xb, besides PC is expensive.

Ps: better on PS, besides PC is expensive.

Pc: ha-ha I can play it at 4k, peasants.

*cringe*

On topic thought it's about fucking time console games started having graphical options, let users set 720p, 900p, 1080p, let users set vsync, let users turn off certain graphical effects like motion blur / post processing, these are simply toggle options that would allow any player the freedom to run moat games how they want them, so long as you have hard coded defaults to switch back to the "too complicated" argument is both bullshit and insulting to gamers.

With that sort of freedom I'd run everything maxed out at 60fps but in 720p

Wait, people have double standards and adjust them so that their preferred product is still looking good for them? That's unheard of!

Go check another forum sometime, or better yet, YouTube / n4g comments.

I didn't claim anyone in this thread was doing it, just brought it up because the topic of resolution is one often, demonstratably, rife with bias and double standards, when the truth is it really doesn't matter.

As someone who often reads the comments on Digital Foundry's videos when i'm bored, i can confirm the above. It's a cesspool of bias, double standards, and superiority complexes.

I'm just going to say one thing about this whole resolution difference argument and then I'm done. It was never about whether 1080p was better than 900p when it first reared its ugly head, it was an indication of which console was more powerful. I've watched this evolve and transmute over the two years into something completely different. The reason PS4 owners would point out the resolution differences was because XB1 owners constantly denied there was any difference in power, and to this day some still do. Even after the first batch of games came out and the PS4 had the edge, they would simply say it was because developers never had the latest drivers/tools. Then when that passed it turned to potential and we had 'secret sauce', 'cloud' and 'Direct X 12'. This dragged it on even longer and so PS4 fans continued pointing out the resolution differences as proof the PS4 was stronger than the XB1. Because the argument could no longer be won and the weight of proof was so big,  a lot of XB1 fans started saying the PS4 fans were obsessed with resolution. It was a way of switching blame ... and here we are today with Sony fanboys just jumping on the resolution bandwagon in it's shallowest form and XB1 owners continuing. That is the history of this debate. It was never about which is best given what the devs were trying to accomplish, it was about proof of power. Putting the power argument to one side, I still stand by what I said at the beginning of this gen:

1080p/60fps (perfection)
1080p/30fps (acceptable)
900p/60fps (acceptable)

History has been rewritten though and it will always now be seen as PS4 owners gloating (which in some respects it has)

The PS5 Exists.
