If they were going to drop the price, they would've done so on the release of Mario Maker. We've had basically the same price for the entire generation (what varies is the value of the bundle we got with that price) and it doesn't seem to be changing.

bet: lost

It certanly should, but I have no idea if it will.

And for the life of me I have never been able to understand why Nintendo is so fixated with short term profits and not care at all about install base.  I mean, you see all the time MS and Sony willing to take loses in order to expand their install bases, while Nintendo do the exact opposite.

One of them is doing it wrong (but from where I'm standing I'm not able to figure out which one it is. I guess we're gonna have to wait a couple of years to see which approach prevails).

Why cut the price? It will sell what it's going to sell. If the sell 150k per month at 300 why drop the price only to sell 160k? Ride this zombie to end, get what they can from it. Wouldn't make sense to take a loss at this point.

Double post, sorry. Deleted.

Nope. I don't think it will get one this year

They should, but they might not. It makes no sense because the spike in sales they would get would be worth whatever minor "loss" they would suffer for charging less.

I still think/hope that "NX" is not launching until 2017 though.

They desperately need a cut that's for sure... A $100 reduction with a physical copy of a game would make sales spike for sure.....

The only change for a pricecut in at NX presentation, but even then they may hold off and pivot the NX as cheaper option against the Wii U - likely the last use Nintendo will make of Wii U.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I don't think so. It would have happened by now. But they should. No one wants to buy them with the NX on the way.

I work retail, a lot of people really want to buy a Wii U, however they all say the same thing, they can't justify the price point when they can get so much more for the same price on XBO and PS4 :| (pre-owned systems are about the same cost of a Wii U)

I kind of noticed the same thing. I want buy one but not at the current price, so i keep checking used market places. But there are barely any people trying to sell one and sometimes there are actually more ads asking for one than on offer. Also most of them are looking for one at around a price of € 200, and that is about the maximum i'm willing to pay for it to.

Yes. They need to get rid of most of the stock before the NX gets announced and released. After that, selling WiiUs is going to be a nightmare for retailers.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
