Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xenoblade cronicles x vs fallout 4. It's showdown time! UPDATE Fallout 4 89 metacritic

Which one, if any will you be getting?

Xenoblade x 299 49.42%

Fallout 4 152 25.12%

Both 105 17.36%

Neither. 49 8.10%

Total:605

I'll get Xenoblade day one. I'll punch my friend on Thursday, for trying to get me interested in Fallout 4.

I don't want to come across as bitter, hater, or whatever. But I can already see the media bashing certain elements of Xenoblade, going as far as making crap up. While Fallout could be a glitchy mess, and they wouldn't mind it's because of Bethesda.

"my JRPG feels like a WRPG. 2 points less!" "there's some pop ups here and there that affect the overall experience", "voice less character fails to draw your attention into the story".

"Fallout 4 Is the best entry in the series so far" "Bethesda have delivered a potential GOTY contender", "it feels correct, amazing experience"... Yet your game running at 45fps, has glitches and bugs, and will potentially need a day one patch.

Monolith Soft once said they want to be the Bethesda of Japan. He wanted to proof that with Xenoblade Chronicles X in fact. But I don't think Bethesda's games get fair reviews. So many bugs, glitches, poor framerate and more and no critic mentions it!

Pretty much all of the critics mention it.  Some of the reviews talk about the glitches quite a bit and how they're not sure how to score the games since they're so well crafted in other areas and provide so many hours of entertainment.

Xenoblade is beatiful game (Master piece!!!!) and fallout 4 is ... Other shooter more

Score wise, it could be pretty close.  Xenoblade scored 92 and Fallout 3 scored 93 on 360 and 91 on PC.  So the scores could be quite close.  Especially when you consider Xenoblade is thematically more in line with Western trends as is the game design.  And previews are pretty even.  That is, mostly positive with outlying detractors.

Sales won't be even close though.  I could see Fallout 4 doing Skyrim numbers potentially while Xenoblade would have to be extremely lucky to cross 1.5mil.

92? Thought it was 88, must be the N3DS version then.

Then sure, it can be close, and now I can see a point to the thread xP

Even though, Fallout hype is high, so it should have a better score, but them can end being close.

Well hype doesn't always favorably raise scores.  Destiny and Watch Dogs were hyped to an absurd level and metas of 76 and 80, respectively,  Which while competent/decent scores are definitely not proportionate to the massive hype.

I'll be getting XCX.

If Fallout scores high because of hype (which it will) there's something fucked about this industry.

XCX won't touch F4 neither in score and much less on sales, so I can't see why put those to versus one another.
That being said, hope both are good games and whatever you get you enjoy a lot :)

I guess because they're kinda similar? They both have a huge world to explore...... Aand  that's about all I got from the top of my head.

Yeah... both have RPG elements... but that's it xP

But there won't be a metric battle on any edge, so unless it's totally subjective it doesn't make much sense, and people have yet to play both, so there is not even the subjective approach yet xS

Not really sure why they are being compared either. I guess there aren't any other games that fit the bill, so these 2 together it is.

I'll buy Fallout 4 way down the line when it's been patched up and I can get it cheap (and when I have a PS4). Probably won't be getting X. I'm a Nintendo guy, but I'm not too keen on JRPG's.

If anything, fallout 4.

When they first showed xenoblade x 2 and a half years ago, it looked great (despite being on the wii u), the world looked colorful, and the mechs seemed awesome. But over 2 years, the game got downgraded, other games graphically outshined the original vid, and the combat/enemy system seem monotonous. I've played half of Xenoblade chronicles and that the story so far was amazing. I never finished though because the game felt more and more like a grind, which is how I feel xenoblade x will end up.

Or they just like the games.  It's not that hard to understand that critics often review games that they are in to and that those games with the largest appeal are more likely to have critics that like them.  As I pointed out before, if hype=big scores than Destiny would be somewhere around 96 and Watchdogs around 95.  As opposed to 76 and 80.
