Forums - Microsoft - Quantum Break Dev Says Final Game Will Be A Real Challenge, Will Feature Lots Of Exploration.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Remedy Entertainment. The Finnish team is probably very busy with Quantum Break’s development as we have now entered the final six months before launch.

However, a few hours ago Thomas Puha (Head of Media & Partners at Remedy) took some time to address a few lingering concerns about Quantum Break, such as the apparent low difficulty: rest assured that it will not be the case for the final version

"Hi,we get a lot of feedback that it seems Jack is completely overpowered compared to the enemies. I can understand why the trailers give you that impression. In the Gamescom15 demo (that we have not released online) the enemies are rather static for the simple fact that AI of those enemy types was not very ready at that point. I think it would go without saying that the final game will offer a real challenge."

"There are a variety of Monarch enemy types you come up against. Some of them like the Strikers (and the Juggernaut you saw in the bridge sequence) have experimental Chronon technology, which levels the playing field as it allows them to warp around as Jack does, and they really do now so, it’s nowhere near as easy to kill them.

"The player’s Time Powers have got cooldowns, which in demos were not in place, so of course in the final game, you cannot be Time Stopping all the enemies all the time. Don’t worry."

Puha also assured Quantum Break fans that there will be exploration in the final game, it just had been cut for the purpose of the demo.

"Also, some people have commented how there is so much going on during action, all the VXF and such…of course that’s not the entire game. There is a lot of just exploring, talking to NPC’s and being immersed in the world, we cut out the exploration bit since we only had 5 minutes of stage time. Rest assured, we got a great balance of action, adventure and time breaking down craziness."

Proud to be a Californian.

Isn't that almost always the case with demos? They are for showing off, not dying the whole time :). The game looks amazing either way.

Good to hear.

GOTY right there I'm telling you!!

Seems like a delay is likely.

How did you come to that conclusion?

Just the underlining tone. 6 months of development isn't much.

I'm in the wait until it's finished camp, and not the rush it and patch it later crowd.

6 months of developing time for Quantum Break?  You're always on Xbox threads, you should know better.

Joe, you were right, take me to Vizioneck with you.

That was an interesting article. It shows you how little faith we should have in early trailers. The AI weren't finished, the enemies didn't have all their powers, and the main character's cooldowns weren't in place; those are significant factors that can lead to misconceptions. Because, seriously, he really did look overpowered.

Also, as far as the exploration goes, I understand about time constraints but explorable environments are quite popular now. It's something you're going to want to show off. I think it would help them if they could display some of that to the public before the game releases.
