Wow, they are still making money off Star Wars: The Old Republic... I thought that game bombed.

It did. Then it went free to play and started making wads of cash.

it says earnings not copies so i dont understand why people make a big deal about it. We all know how shady digital games are offered at full price + the entire games profit margin/earning goes all to the publishers and console manufacture. And lets not forget about the DLC and microtransactions

it also says more gamers buying full games digitally. I'm one of those 😋

Uh.. what? How is it shady for the games to be the same price, or for more of the profits to go to the actual people making the game possible?

DLC and microtransactions are also present for physical copies and are irrelevant.

So digital consoles sales increased 29%... so now it is not below 15% anymore but something close to 20% compared with retail?

Still a small but getting relevant... and MGSV sold more physical than digital to be outsold by GTAV digital.

I can sorta relate to that, originally I was all like "we don't own our games though" but over time realized we still don't anyway because the disk itself is part of the license agreement/trade in the end, except with digital you can mess with the code and with a CD-DVD you can also just extract said code and it ends up performing the same in the end anyway.

It took me a while but I got over that little bump, I;ve actually found digital games are far more cheaper for me than physical, there is still the odd 1-3 games that can be cheaper physically on PC and I still have my CD reader built into my new rig but I hardly use it unless I'm watching a DVD, that and I really have been put off physical media getting scratched and not being able to read the disks while with my digital backlog It's all there and will last forever.

For 3DS though I'm kinda indifferent, I do set out to buy physical copies but I;m also going to upgrade to a enw memory card soon which means more VC titles that will be all digital (since they all are anyway), for Pokemon though I really do have to get a physical copy of that and I have actually noticed that they never slapped Pokemon Soul silver or heart gold or any of the older ones onto their VC list and there is no way I;m buying a 2nd hand physical PKMN game, I;d rather buy digital.

Yeah. Pokemon is a weird case for me. I have a copy of every game from every generation, so it feels weird to just stop. Either way, I'm getting Z digital when it comes out, so it's just a matter of time. No mainline Pokemon on VC definitely is an annoying issue. One that will hopefully be emended in the future.

You know people always wanting Pokémon on VC always confused me. I guess it's for the nostalgia factor? Becuase all of the Pokémon can be gotten in the newer games with better moves and mechanics etc.

It has nothing to do with nostalgia. I own a Pokemon game from every mainline entry. I am well aware of the improvements. Doesn't mean the older games are obsolete. They are still worthwile. The only thing worse than genwunners are new-gen nazis.

Oh okay I was just a little curious. I wasn't trying to claim that the newer gens were vastly superior to older ones or anything.

This is more or less what I was wanting to say, I know the later additions improve upon the originals gameplay but I really just loved the older ones for their story and of course their mechanics and pokemon within each version, Silver holds a special place in my ehart for being my fave pokemon game to date (with Y being behind it of course).

The one issue I have with Nintendo on this is that they still haven't for some reason slapped all the older pokemon games onto the digital store which really just leaves us entirely at the mercy of scalpers or folk who really rhink their used copy is worth hundreds of pounds/dollars, I just want to be able to download the game when I want and play it then and there than chance buying a used copy for a load of money with the fact it's not brand new and the possability of it being broken or non existing as a result.
