Remember when they said that they weren't developing for Wii because they had to find a way to use the Wiimote? Or how they said that they weren't developing for Wii U because they wanted to find ways to use the Gamepad capacities and screen? I don't need much imagination to guess what they will say once the NX is/are revealed when they are asked if they will develop for it/them.
This is a personal opinion, but I believe that third parties will only develop for NX if it is more powerful than PS4/X1. Powerful enough to run unoptimized code from either the PS4 or X1 versions of their game.

I have to ask, would third parties support nintendo if the NX was ultra powerful?
Would Nintendo games really need that much power ?
The whole notion that NX has to be much stronger or even a little stronger than PS4/X1 is just so stupid. Consumers cannot tell or even care about the power between the X1 and PS4. Let me ask this. If its stronger or even as strong what are the games going to look like? Like PC? Thats not a really big jump, theres nothing they can really do in the power area other than at least match PS4/X1. Thats all they have to do.

My opinion that Nintendo needs a more powerful console to get third parties on board isn't based on prettier graphics or anything like that but in the effort it takes to port a game to a game console.
Third party games fon't sell as well on Nintendo consoles as they do on Sony and MSoft consoles (it can be discussed about why it happens, but it happens), so most publishers don't port their games to Nintendo consoles because the investment it takes to optimize the game engine to run well on them isn't worth it. With a more powerful console, that optimization task is less demanding (they could basically throw the code of the PS4 or X1 version of the game and only tweak a couple of things to make it run without too many problems), so the costs of those ports would be lower and therefore, publishers would be more open to make them.
That's my opinion.
Please excuse my bad English.
