Forums - PC Discussion - One Life: videogame in which you die once and can't play ever again

I think this concept can work. An MMO where you pay for a character like 3 euro when you die, start from the beginning and buy another character for 3 euro.

That's not an MMO anymore. That's a cassino.

Someone's been watching Sword Art Online...

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

So it's like an arcade machine model?

Ah yes, the good ol' anti-growth MMO business model.

Really though, i can't see this working. Several years back i used to play on a Minecraft server that banned you for a week if you died, and while it did add a lot of tension to the game, the map was absolutely massive. You could quite easily avoid every other player if you wanted too, which made it possible to actually get to a point where you felt relatively safe. A game with a (likely) considerably smaller world + permanent bans? No thanks.

What an interesting little gimmick. In fact, I find it even more interesting than the game itself. They'll get the exposure they want, but this silly thing they're going for will probably intimidate most of their potential costumers.

So innovative!

At first, I thought this looked cool.

then I saw that you need to pay. That's pretty stupid.

This game will simply fail. Nice idea, horribly executed.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I like the concept, but I think it's enough to make the death of a character permanent and let the player create a new one after a week or a month - that's enough of an incentive to play according to the worlds rules in my opinion

This game better not have Sniper Rifles.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
