Forums - Movies & TV - Fear The Walking Dead Season 1: impressions?

What did you think about Fear The Walking Dead Season 1 now that it is over?

I am not the biggest fan of Walking Dead and I saw some issues I had with TWD in FTWD but I think I enjoyed this spin-off series more than I have TWD ever since the original series second episode of Season 1 where it went downhill for me.

Anyways, any thoughts?

It was ok. I'll certainly keep watching next season, but just comparing them so far (season 1 of both) it's nowhere near the original for me.

It's not very good, to put it mildly - if it was ABC, instead of AMC, I guess I would be somewhat OK with it, just another zombie show or whatever, but after such a great spin-off they put out with 'Better Call Saul', I'm honestly wondering how AMC even approved it, so it's really disappointing considering it's coming from them.

Honestly, I'm even enjoying such trashy show that 'Z Nation' is more than all the family drama bollocks in FTWD.

6/10 for me. I liked some things, didn't like others. Will give next season a try but it needs to impress from the start.

It had potential but I was going in to the show thinking there would be more emphasis on the deterioration of society. We got that, but only a bit, the real escalation was off screen while being in safety with the millitary and at the end we are now at the point in which the original show starts. I wanted to see more urban panic and the cool stuff.

Brilliance, the pacing and tension are spot on and the LA setting just tops it all off .

I like when things are more personal with zombie attacks instead of the current state of TWD (which I think had it's best episode so far yesterday, though far from perfect) where bunch of zombies attack and the situation is like: "now we kill a bunch of zombies".

I can't wait for Better Call Saul season 2. I have been about to watch Z Nation for a long while now but there are so many shows it's crazy.

Definitely. One of the scenes I liked the most was having the army pointing guns at the woman(?) at the mall parking lot, like having people not sure how to deal with zombies.

Yeah, Better Call Saul is fantastic show, in some aspects (for my taste at least) it's even better than Breaking Bad - that's why I was surprised, and not in a good way, with FTWD, everything about it is a lot worse than TWD....which, as I said, would be fine if it was some other network, but really seems like cheap cash-in for AMC.

As for Z Nation - that show just has to be watched to believe some of hilarity that (unintentionally) comes from it, so if you decide to watch it, be sure to tune out your brain completely and you'll have decent amount of fun with it. More or less it's Ed Wood-style level of bad, which imidiatelly elevates it to different kind of perception, so if you like sometimes to unwind like that it's worth the time.
