Forums - Sony - PS4 1TB Version Will Be The Focus Going Forward

I'm gonna get a 2-TB SSD and put the 500GB in my monster rig.

SSD in a PS4 is a huge waste though I do not think you are being serious.

1TB still is to low should have been 2TB from the start all people are doing is buying extra HD's or deleting games.

But the average consumer doesn't play as many games as us forum dwellers. I bet it takes years for many to even use the 500GB. 1TB is a nice middle ground.

I have an external 1TB on my X1 on top of the 500GB. I have like 60 games installed. When you have so much storage you basically install stuff with the assumption you might play it one day. In reality, we tend to just play a few different games a month.

I agree with this, I play waaaaaay more games than the average person and I am pretty ok with 500 GBs. 1 TB is more than adequate.

This isn't about the NA market, but EU and a few others, where there has been no price cut. Wonder if there won't be one and they'll simply sell 1TB models at 399.99€

Over here, the plain 1T model (CU11xx) has been selling around that price right from the start.

Or more precisely, the 1T units were lying around like dead bricks in the shops. It was the period when you could get any 500G PS4 bundle for considerably less than the MSRP (so my guess is people bought the bundles and replaced the hd).

Then the 1T units (still CU11xx) were bundled with FIFA 16 (same price as unbundled) and the 1T units started to sell quite well.

At the moment, all PS4 prices are up to full list price again in physical shops. Probably in anticipation of a price cut that makes the cut more appealing.

In one single MM shop, I see plain 500G/1T units (old CU11xx) and new 500G/1T units (CU12xx), and old and new 500G bundles all in one huge single pile of boxes. Obviously massivley overshipped/overordered in anticipation of an incoming price cut (during PGW).

Well, that's good. More space is better. Hopefully they still come at a good price though.

They will phase out the 500GB and replace them with 1TB at he $350 price tag.

So yeah, still a pretty good price. Probably the best of the 3 atm in terms of overall value. Though I imagine the X1 wll get a price cut.

Well, that sounds plenty good to me. That was a question that came up when I was browsing a store, seeing bundles at the entrance. I saw 500 TB models there, wondering when they would be fased out, haha...

Why would they phase out 500 TB models in favor of 1 TB ones. O- o

I guess cuz more is better...? : P I'd rather have more space than less.

Well 1TB is more than 500 GB, and players have often expressed that 500 GB isn't enough for them. (I think I'd manage with 500 GB though since I have no problem uninstalling games after beating them once.)
It was like that with PS3 and 360 as well. PS3 launched with a 40 GB and 60 GB version. They later got replaced by the 120 GB version, and then later on that one got replaced by a 250 and 500 GB version.

Obvously 1 TB is bigger than 500 GB, im asking why you replace 500 TB with 1TB
